Admission to PhD Course Work

With reference to the above mentioned subject, I am directed to inform you that letter no. Acad/2211 dated 05-02-2026 is hereby cancelled with immediate effect as there is no provision in current Ordinance and Regulation. The Department will publish the final selection list on its notice board and the same should be informed to the incharge, IT cell, Patna University.

The publication of the final selection list must be strictly under the approved Ordinance and Regulation of the Governor’s Secretariat, Bihar letter no. BSU-05/2010-2684(GS(I)) dated 21-09-2017 of Uniform Ordinance and Regulation Governing Award of Ph.D. Degree and Patna University letter no. Acad/357/aks/522 dated 07-08-2024. The prescribed reservation rule of Bihar Government must also be followed.

The selected candidates must be informed through their respective emails and SMS to deposit Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees two thousand only) only against the fee for Ph.D course work in the account of the respective departments latest by 30^th April 2026 through Bank draft / challan. The Department must give a proper receipt of the deposited amount.

The Department will start course work for the students who deposited the above mentioned amount from 7^th May 2026. As per clause 7.3 of the existing Common Ordinance and Regulations, the first being a compulsory course on research methodology will be conducted by the Dean of the Faculty concerned and the second paper should include research methods specific to concerned subject to be conducted by the department concerned.

The Department concerned will transfer a sum of Rs. 1,000/- only (Rupees one thousand only) per student to the accounts of the respective Deans for conducting the first paper.
