Admission to 2-Year Post Graduate Courses (2026-28)

Admission to 2-Year Post Graduate Courses in Different Subjects as recommended by NEP, 2020 under the Faculty Council for Post Graduate Studies in Arts/Science/ Commerce for the Academic Session 2026-28.

Online applications are invited from the eligible intending Candidates for admission to the 2-year PG Courses of Studies for the Session 2026-2028 in different subjects under the Faculty Council for Post Graduate Studies in Arts / Science / Commerce of the Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, who are Graduates with Honours (CBCS) / Major (NEP) / (1+1+1) pattern under any UGC recognized system and Graduates of Programme Courses of CBCS who passed out during 2024, 2025 or 2026 only for admission to the following regular full time PG Courses (duration- 2 years or 4 Semesters) for the academic session 2026-2028.

For Self-Financing courses like Biotechnology, Business Administration (M.B.A.), Computer Science, Environmental Science, Library and Information Science (Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc.-M.Lib.I.Sc.), Journalism and Mass Communication, Law (LL.M.), Performing Arts (Music-Vocal- Hindustani), Performing Arts (Music- Vocal-Rabindra Sangeet), Master of Sports Science, there is no restriction on year of passing of UG course, provided they have requisite qualifications for admission to the Self-Financing courses.

Admission procedure to the first semester of following PG Courses for the academic session 2026-2028 will start on and from 13/07/2026 as per the Govt. Notification No.638-Edn(U)/HED-12016(21)/5/2025-UNV SEC-Dept. of HE, dated 18/05/2026 issued by the University Branch, Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. The said Admission Notification, Schedule and the Guidelines will be strictly followed during the admission procedure.

All eligible students are to be admitted in an academic course structure as designed by the University following the NCCF as recommended in the NEP, 2020 for PG programme following NHEQF level of higher education qualifications.

Level 6 - Post-Graduate Diploma.
Programme duration: One year (two semesters) for those who exit after successful completion of the first year (two semesters) of the 2-year master’s programme.

Level 6.5 - Master’s degree. (e.g., M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., etc.)
Programme duration: Two years (four semesters) after obtaining a 3-year Bachelor’s degree (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. etc.).

Level 6.5 - Master’s degree. (e.g., M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., etc.)
Programme duration: One year (two semesters) after obtaining a 4-year Bachelor’s degree (Honours/Honours with Research) (e.g., B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. etc.).

• Entry and Exit option: with the chance of lateral entry at 3rd semester and regular exit after completion of 2nd semester and 4th semester.

General/Minimum Eligibility Criteria and Seat Distribution for Admission to all M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. Programmes
  • For Home University Candidates (SKBU): Candidates / Students / Graduates of the Home University (SKBU) who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme with
    • Honours (CBCS) in the relevant/ concerned subject and passed in the year 2024, 2025 or 2026.
    OR
    • with Major (NEP-2020) in the relevant /concerned subject at present year (2026).
  • For Other University Candidates: Candidates / Students / Graduates of Other Universities who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme and passed in 2024, 2025 or 2026 with:
    • Honours (CBCS), or
    • Major (NEP-2020), or
    • Honours in 1+1+1 pattern or any other UGC-recognized system in the relevant/concerned subject
Seat Distribution:
  • 80% seats are allocated for the Home University (SKBU):
    • Candidates/Students/Graduates of the Home University (SKBU) who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme under CCFUP of NEP 2020 are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Major subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of the Home University who have successfully completed a 3-Year Undergraduate Programme under CBCS are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Honours subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
  • 20% seats are allocated for the:
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of Other Universities who have successfully completed a 3-year UG Programme with Major (NEP-2020) / Honours (CBCS) / Honours with 1+1+1 pattern / under any UGC recognized system and passed in 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Major / Honours subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Candidates/Students/Graduates from Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University who successfully completed a 3-year Programme Course under CBCS and passed in 2024, 2025 or 2026 with at least 60% aggregate are eligible to apply for PG course in his / her Discipline 1.
    • Note: Unfilled Home University seats, if any, will be filled by Outside University candidates/students, and vice versa.
General/Minimum Eligibility Criteria and Seat Distribution for Admission to all Self-Financing Courses
Note: Applicable to Self-Financing Courses like Biotechnology, Business Administration (M.B.A.), Computer Science, Environmental Science, Library & Information Science (Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc.–M.Lib.I.Sc.), Journalism and Mass Communication, Law (LL.M.), Performing Arts (Music – Vocal Hindustani), Performing Arts (Music – Vocal Rabindra Sangeet), and Master of Sports Science.
  • There is no restriction on the year of passing of UG course, provided candidates hold the requisite qualifications for admission to the Self-Financing courses irrespective of the year of passing the qualifying examination.
Seat Distribution:
  • 80% seats are allocated for the Home University (SKBU):
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of Home University (SKBU) who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme under CCFUP of NEP 2020 are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Major subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of Home University who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme with Honours under CBCS are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Honours subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of Home University who have successfully completed a 3-year Undergraduate Programme with Honours under the 1+1+1 pattern or under any other UGC recognized system are eligible to apply for the 2-year PG Programme in the corresponding Honours subject at UG level, after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
  • 20% seats are allocated for the:
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates of Other Universities who have successfully completed a 3-year UG Programme with Major (NEP-2020) / Honours (CBCS) / Honours with 1+1+1 pattern / under any UGC recognized system are eligible to apply for the 2-year self-financing PG Programmes after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Candidates / Students / Graduates from Sidho Kanho Birsha University who successfully completed a 3-year Programme Course under CBCS with at least 60% aggregate are eligible to apply for the 2-year self-financing PG Programmes after fulfilment of subject specific conditions.
    • Note: Unfilled Home University seats, if any, will be filled by Outside University candidates/students, and vice versa.
    • Note: There will be no 80%-20% seats distribution for Master in Laws (LL.M.).
Subject Specific Eligibility Criteria
  • M.A. in Anthropology & Tribal Studies: 3-year Graduates with Honours (CBCS) / Major (NEP-2020) in Anthropology, Botany, Nutrition, Physiology, Zoology, Geography, History, Social Work or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having any of the above-mentioned subjects as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply.
    Graduation in Anthropology (Honours / Major / Programme with Anthropology as Discipline 1) will get the preference.
    Applicants from other Universities having 3-year Honours / Major in Anthropology, Botany, Nutrition, Physiology, Zoology, Geography, History & Social Work only are eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. in Biotechnology: Bachelor Degree in Life Science (B.Sc.) / 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Agriculture, Animal Science, Botany, Biotechnology, Bio-Chemistry, Genetics, Life Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Zoology and other allied subjects or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having any of the above-mentioned subjects as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply.
  • Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.):
    (i) 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major /Programme Graduates (CBCS) in any discipline or
    (ii) Bachelor Degree (under 10+2+4 system) in Engineering and Technology / Medical Science / Law / Professional Courses or its equivalent from any recognised University or
    (iii) Bachelor Degree (under 10+2+3 system) in Business Administration (BBA) are eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. in Computer Science: 3-year Graduates with
    (i) B.Sc. Honours / Major in Computer Science or
    (ii) BCA or
    (iii) B.Sc. Honours / Major in Mathematics / Statistics / Physics with Computer Science as one of the pass subjects or
    (iv) B.Sc. Programme with Computer Science and Mathematics / Physics / Statistics are eligible to apply.
  • M.A. in Economics: 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Economics, Mathematics & Statistics or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having any of the above-mentioned subjects as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. in Environmental Science: 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Environmental Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geography (Sc), Geology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Zoology, Nutrition, Physiology, Agriculture, B.Tech./B.E. in Civil/Mechanical or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having any of the above-mentioned subjects as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply.
  • Integrated B.Lib.I.Sc.–M.Lib.I.Sc.: Applicants having
    (i) Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLISc) or
    (ii) B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or
    (iii) MBBS/BDS or
    (iv) LL.B. or
    (v) PG/Master degree in any discipline, are eligible to apply.
  • M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication: 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major / Programme Graduates (CBCS) in any discipline are eligible to apply.
  • M.A. in Kudmali:
    (i) 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Kudmali or
    (ii) 3-year Graduates (CBCS) having Kudmali or
    (iii) 3-year Graduates in any stream with 1-year PG Diploma in Kudmali / Kudmali Language / Kudmali Language & Culture from any recognized University / reputed Institute are eligible to apply.

    During admission, preference will be as per Sl. No. (i), then Sl. No. (ii) and lastly Sl. No. (iii).
    Merit list will be prepared on the basis of followings:
    For Sl. No. (i): Aggregate Percentage of marks in graduation with Honours/Major subject as Kudmali.
    For Sl. No. (ii): Aggregate Percentage of marks in graduation with Kudmali.
    For Sl. No. (iii): Aggregate Percentage of marks in graduation and not the marks of PG Diploma in Kudmali / Kudmali Language / Kudmali Language & Culture.
    Note: For Kudmali there is no restriction on year of passing of UG course.
  • Master of Laws (L.L.M.): LL.B. (3-year or 5-year integrated course) are eligible to apply.
  • Master of Performing Arts (Music: Vocal–Hindustani):
    (i) 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Music or
    (ii) Programme Graduates (CBCS) having Music as Discipline 1 or
    (iii) Graduates (3-year) in any stream with Diploma in Music from recognized University / reputed Institute or
    (iv) Graduates (3-year) in any stream from recognized University or Institute with special aptitude in Music, are eligible to apply.
  • Master of Performing Arts (Music: Vocal–Rabindra Sangeet):
    (i) 3-year Graduates with Honours / Major in Music or
    (ii) Programme Graduates (CBCS) having Music in Discipline 1 or
    (iii) Graduates (3-year) in any stream with Diploma in Music from recognised University / reputed Institute or
    (iv) Graduates (3-year) in any stream from recognized University or Institute with special aptitude in Music,are eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. in Psychology: B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) / Major in Psychology are eligible to apply.
  • M.A in Sociology: 3-year Graduates with Honours/Major in Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having any of the above-mentioned subjects as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply. Graduates in Sociology (Honours/ Major/ Programme with Sociology as Discipline 1) will get the preference.
  • Master of Sports Science (M.S.S.): Bachelors of any stream (preference will be given to the B.P.Ed., B.P.E., Graduation with Physical Education as one of the disciplines, minimum 1-year Diploma in Sports Science or allied stream along with Graduation Degree).
  • M.A. / M.Sc. in other Subjects: 3-year Graduates with Honours/Major in the concerned subject and or Programme Graduates (CBCS) having the same subject as Discipline 1 are eligible to apply.
