Admission Notification for Ph.D. Programme under Research Scholar / In-service Research Scholar category under the Faculties of Agriculture and Horticulture, 2026-2027

Applications in prescribed form are invited through online only at www.ubkv.ac.in for admission to Ph.D. Programme under Research Scholar / In-service Research Scholar category in the following disciplines under the Faculties of Agriculture and Horticulture for the session 2026-2027. The candidate must satisfy one of the qualifications as given in Annexure-I as indicated against the relevant disciplines to which admission is sought in Ph.D. Programme.

Number of Seats:
The number of seats under different disciplines are given below:

• In case any seat falls vacant due to non-availability of state domicile un-reserved candidates, it will be filled up by non-domicile candidates (if any) on the basis of Merit list.
• The number of seats may change subject to availability of eligible teacher/Guide in each Department.
• 02 Seats shall be reserved for Kashmiri migrants over and above the normal student intake.
• SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates of outside the state of West Bengal shall be treated as General category candidates.
• Foreign students will be admitted following University Guideline only.
• Application for admission to Ph. D. Degree Programme is to be made ONLINE only.

• Date of start of submission of application form: 24/08/2026 (23:59:59 Hrs.)
• Last date of submission of application form: 14/09/2026 (23:59:59 Hrs.))
• Publication of list of eligible candidates for Entrance Test: 17/09/2026
• Entrance Test: 30/09/2026
• Publication of Merit List: 01/10/2026
• Date of counseling and admission: 09/10/2026
• Start of classes: will be notified later

Essential Qualification:

• Consistently good academic records with Master’s Degree in Agriculture /Horticulture / Forestry Science having at least 65% marks or an OGPA of 6.5 out of 10.00 or 3.75 out of 5.00 or 3.0 out of 4.00 or 2.25 out of 3.00 for general and OBC category (for SC/ST/PH candidate 60 % marks or OGPA 6.0 out of 10.00 or 3.44 out of 5.00 or 2.75 out of 4.00 or 2.06 out of 3.00) in Master’s degree programme from any recognized Indian/Foreign University followed by Bachelors’ Degree in Agricultural / Horticultural / Forestry Science under 10+2+4 or 10+1+4 or 11+4.
• Experience of Dissertation in University / Institute for at least one year.
• Minimum age for admission is 23 years as on 31/12/2026.
• Students passed with three years Bachelor degree course are not eligible.

Application Fees: # No application form without deposition of fee will be considered.
# Only PWD candidates whose disability percentage are 40% or above, are exempted from application fees. However, there is no PWD seat separately in any department and will be treated as per their respective caste category.

Preparation of Merit List:
The final admission will be conducted strictly on the basis of merit and according to the positionin the merit list.
The score shall be calculated taking into account the following academic records and shall be expressed in percentile score- Guideline for Entrance Test:
The Entrance Test for admission to Ph. D. degree course in a discipline of Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry for Research Scholar, In-service Research Scholar and Project Fellow of session 2026-27 will be held as per ICAR syllabus of concerned M.Sc. Courses.

• Duration of the Test – 1 hour; Total marks – 70.
• Questions pattern: MCQ type Questions with four alternatives, each of 1 mark (70x1=70).
• There will be negative marks for MCQ is 0.25 for each wrong answer.
• The syllabi for entrance test in Ph.D. (Agriculture), Ph.D. (Horticulture) and Ph.D. (Forestry) are available in the University Website www.ubkv.ac.in ).
