The Programme:
The Undergraduate Programmes in Data Science & Economics at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, henceforth B. Sc (Hons) – DS & B. Sc (Hons) – ECON, are four-year full-time residential programme.

A full-time undergraduate Data Science programme (with an Economics minor), the degree blends rigorous training in stochastic processes, algorithms, data structures, and psychology with applied business learning. Designed for real-world relevance, the curriculum prioritizes analytical depth, contextual thinking, and professional readiness through internships, global exposure, and life-skill development. The programme leads to the grant of the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science.

A full-time undergraduate Economics programme (with a Data Science minor), the degree combines economic theory with statistical inference, econometrics, and behavioural insights, underpinned by data mining and applied business learning. Designed for real-world relevance, the curriculum prioritizes analytical depth, contextual thinking, and professional readiness through internships, global exposure, and life-skill development. The programme leads to the grant of the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Programme:

  • Age: Not more than 20 years as on 01 August, 2027.
  • Academic qualification: Pass in Class XII or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • The candidate must have taken Mathematics as a subject in Class XI as well as Class XII.
  • The candidate should have scored ≥ 60 % marks in class X.
The candidate must qualify in national-level entrance examination and a personal interview conducted by IIMB.

Syllabus of IIMB UG Admission Test:
  • Mathematics Syllabus – NCERT up to XII grade
  • Duration: 135 minutes
  • Format: Computer-based Test with 60 multiple-choice questions
  • Sections:
    • Quantitative & Data Interpretation (QADI) - (30 questions)
    • Logical Reasoning (LR) - (15 questions)
    • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) - (15 questions)

The documentsto be submitted as part of the admissions process are listed below. Please ensure that all the documents submitted are complete in all respects.
  • Class X and XII board transcripts and certificates.
  • Statement of purpose
  • SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS certificate (if applicable)
  • Relevant disability certificate and UDID Card for persons with disability (PwD)
Application Process: Stage-I:
The UG admissions process at IIMB starts with the submission of the online application form.
  • The first shortlist will be prepared comprising candidates who will secure a pre-determined minimum score on all 3 sections of UG Test 2026. Only candidates obtaining a minimum raw score that is positive in allsections of UG Test -2026 will be considered. The percentile cut-off scores for admission, applied to UG Test 2025, are shown in Table 1 in Annexure-I. All the subsequent processing,standardization and selection are limited to candidates in the first shortlist alone.

    * These are cut-offs used for preparing the first shortlist. The scores of those called for interviews were higher.
  • For candidates in the first shortlist, a pre-PI (Personal Interview) score is created. The weights for different components at the pre-PI stage are as follows:
    UG Test = 70
    10th board overall (standardized) score = 15
    10th board math (standardized) score = 10
    Gender diversity = 5

    The 70 points for UG Test are derived from performance in each of the three sections as follows:
    Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QAD) - 20 points.
    Logical Reasoning (LR) - 30 points
    Verbal ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) - 20 points
  • The gender diversity component is applicable only for computing the pre-PI score and is not used in the next stage.
  • Based on the pre-PI score, a certain number of candidates from each category are selected for the next stage of the admission process.
Application Process: Stage-II:
The second stage of the admissions process at IIMB consists of a personal interview (PI) in selected cities.
  • For all the candidates called for interviews, the weights for the parameters at the post-PI stage are as follows:
    10th board overall (standardized) score = 10
    10th board math (standardized) score = 10
    UG Test score = 40
    Personal interview = 40
