Minimum Eligibility Criteria for PGPEX-VLM (Batch 2027-28)

Education

First-Class Graduate Engineers with First Division/ First Class Marks from Secondary Examination onwards.

Work Experience

Self-sponsored candidates, not in service. - Minimum 4½ (four and a half) to maximum 10 (ten) years of work experience in manufacturing, engineering, and related sectors; holding responsibilities in production planning and control, research, design and development, quality control, plant engineering, maintenance, supply chain, construction, etc.
Sponsored candidates need to have a minimum of 4½ (four and a half) years of work experience only. In these cases, there is no upper limit of experience.
Candidates on study leave also need to have a minimum of 4½ (four and a half) years of work experience only. There is no upper limit of experience in these cases. They are eligible to participate in the placement process only upon submission of a “No Objection Certificate” from the Company/Employer. Please note that participation in the placement process does not guarantee placement.
The date of computation of the number of years of work experience shall be 28th February, 2027 for the academic year 2027-28, i.e., the 21st batch.
Candidates are advised to ensure meeting the minimum years of work experience to remain eligible for admissions. If not, the candidature will not be considered further for the admissions process, and the application fee will not be refunded.
Any suppression of fact or false information will lead to the rejection of candidature at any stage of the admission process.

Admission Process

The application form is to be submitted as available and directed on the website.
Selection of candidates will be made on the basis of his/her academic background, which has to be consistently first division/first class from school (Secondary Examination) Board examination level to graduation level, relevant work experience, employer’s recommendations, performance in the Written Test Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing Admission Test (VLMAT) and Personal Interviews to be conducted jointly by IIMC, IITK, and IITM.

* The mode & arrangement of the written test (VLMAT) and personal interview dates may be altered subject to the advisories and guidelines of the Central and State Governments. The decision of the competent authority of the TriInstitute will be considered final in this regard.

Selection Process

Based on the eligibility criteria, shortlisted candidates are called for a written test, Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing Admission Test (VLMAT), consisting of three sections: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, and General Management. The written test (VLMAT) is conducted at IIT MADRAS. The mode of conducting the offline written examination (VLMAT) is subject to the advisories and guidelines of the Central and State Governments during the admission process for the 2027-28 Batch.

Candidates shortlisted after the written test (VLMAT) are called for a Personal Interview (PI) at the host institute. The mode of the interview will be finalized depending on the circumstances and Government advisories.

Selection will be based on academic records, work experience, and performance in the Written Test (VLMAT) and Personal Interview. The competent authority of the Tri-Institute can change the admissions criteria at a later stage, depending on the feasibility of conducting a written test (VLMAT) or a personal interview. The decision of the competent authority will be treated as final.

Program Fees

The Program Fee forthe 21st Batch (Academic Year 2027-28)is subject to change. Final fee details shall be shared at the time of admission/in due course. The program fee for the 20th Batch (AY: 2026-2027) i s R s. 18,00,000/-. This amount includes only tuition fees, common fees, host institute fees, and the cost of course materials.

Rs. 50,000/- is to be paid as a caution deposit (refundable after adjustments, if any) payable at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. This amount will be refunded upon completion of the program, after any necessary adjustments to dues. The participants will have to bear the costs of accommodation, travel expenses related to project work, and domestic and international study tours. In addition, they will have to bear the costs of food, personal travel, and any other personal expenses.
