General Guidelines for the Candidates

The admission will be done only through an Online Merit Based System.

Online Application Forms for admission will be available from Midnapore College website www.midnaporecollege.ac.in from 14.05.2026 and will be closed on 29.05.26 (11.59 p.m.) [Please see the detailed schedule]

Online Applications cost (Non-refundable) of Rs. 250/- per subject to be paid through Online Payment Mode. For
each additional application/s extra Rs. 200/- to be paid, if the candidate/s want/s to apply for more than one subject.

All Candidates must fill up forms with his / her own Mobile Number and Email to be used for the entire period
of Studentship in this College. They must check SMS & Email Inbox (also Spam Folder) on regular basis for
communication made from the College end during the entire process of admission.

An applicant may submit Application Forms for more than one (01) Honours/Major Subjects, preference- wise
and have to choose Two IDM Subjects from the list for each Honours/Major subject applied, IDM–I(will be
taught in 1st, 3rd & 5th Semesters) and IDM– II (will be taught in 2nd, 4th & 6th Semester). Candidates are to
carefully choose from the bunch of allotted IDM subjects. For certain IDM subjects (Lab based/Science
subjects like Math/ Chemistry/Botany) having same/allied subject in the H.S./Equivalent level is compulsory.
Interchange between IDM-I and IDM-II choices may be done by the College for the better management of
students’ strength in particular subject-papers of a semester. Candidates will be allotted also VAC, AEC* & MDC
as per College guidelines/bunching afterwards.[*Only one AEC (between Bengali and Hindi) to be chosen during
admission form fill up. (Hindi for those whose first/second language in M.P./H.S. is not Bengali)]

Any inadvertent error in the data during form fill up can only be corrected by re-logging in to admission
form till last date of form fill up.

Merit list for admission will be based on marks obtained in best five subjects in 10+2 Examination in
WBCHSE, and in case of other Boards the candidates must have passed in 05 (Five) recognized subjects included
in the qualifying examination.

SMS will be sent to each applicant after the successful submission of the application form with requisite fee(s).

Direct Admission window will open on 14.05.2026 (till 29.05.2026) for Major subject in Hindi, Economics,
Education, Electronics, Philosophy, Political Science, Sanskrit, Sociology, Yoga and TAM on a first-come, firstserved basis immediately following filling up of online application forms subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

The College Authority may opt for a single admission window for courses where the number of applicants is
significantly low, based on previous years' trends and internal data analysis.

The Attendance of a candidate admitted will not be less than 75% in the first 10days of 1st Semester after the
commencement of classes in the College. If found so, the admission of such candidate will be cancelled.

Candidates passed qualifying examination i.e. 10 + 2 only in the year 2025 & 2026 are eligible.

Minimum 02 Seats for NRI/ National Quota will be reserved in each subject. For NRI candidates applications will be
processed through “Study in India Portal” (https://www.studyinindia.gov.in)

The entire Admission Process will be followed as per published schedule.

Students may apply online for Hostel Accommodation during admission (Both Boys’& Girls’ hostel facilities
available). Online Application Form (Rs. 100/-) [Non-Refundable] for Hostel Admission will be available after the
completion of admission. Merit & Distance of residence the students from the College will be considered for Hostel
Admission following the publication of Hostel Merit list. Application Window for Hostel Accommodation will
open on 05.06.2026 and remain active till 15.06. 2026. [Please see the detailed schedule.]

All admissions are purely provisional; and admission will be cancelled during physical document verification,
if the documents are found not in conformity with the data/information/declaration in the forms submitted online.

Admission for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students will strictly be made as per Govt. Reservation Rules.

Admission to the OBC categories is contingent upon the final verdict held by the Hon'ble Court concerning this
matter, or any orders issued by the BCW Ministry, Government of West Bengal, and the relevant certificates
provided by the candidate. Till any particular directives are received by the College 17% seats are kept reserved for
the OBCs till the completion of admission.

Allotment of Day and Morning Shifts will be done after the completion of the admission subject to the
availability of Seats and on alternative Merit Basis (for example merit ranks 1, 2, 3,… are allotted to Day
Section and 2, 4, 6,… are allotted to Morning Section and son on among the admitted candidates) & choice of
IDM taken (where a particular IDM subject is exclusively taught in Morning/Day shift). Competent committee
may consider serious medical issue supported by valid medical certificates and records for shifting of section.
This consideration may be done after scrutiny of appeal from a few students having genuine daily conveyance
problem from distant places or having such other genuine issues.

Date of Induction Meeting will be communicated in due time after admission through SMS, and notification on
website.

To get refund of Admission Fees after Cancellation of Admission, the Students have to apply onlyvia Online
Portal with Admission Cancellation Receipt and scanned copy of First Page of Passbook / Cancelled leaf of bank
Cheque Book (Account Number and IFSC code should be clearly visible). Refund will be done as per applicable
UGC Guidelines. Refund will be done through online mode. Therefore, candidates are required to give correct
details of concerned bank account.

Applicants must mandatorily provide their APAAR (Academic Bank of Credits - ABC) ID while filling out the
form. The APAAR document must mandatorily be uploaded during the admission process. This is compulsorily
essential as per concerned Government Regulation.
