Minimum Eligibility Criteria 2026
Four-year B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BBA (Honours or Honours with Research)
General Criteria

A candidate who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination is
eligible to seek admission to the first year of the four-year B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. / BBA (Honours &
Honours with Research) Courses provided he/she has also passed in English, the full marks not
being less than 100 and fulfil the conditions given below.

No candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of over three years from the year of passing
the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular course of studies
after passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission shall not be considered
while calculating three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination, i.e., a
candidate should have passed the previous qualifying examination not before 2022.
Please Note – Candidates who are already registered with Calcutta University under Annual
System (1+1+1 Regulations) or candidate who have already successfully completed any U.G.
degree earlier, are not eligible to apply for any of the courses.

Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from
CBSE, CISCE (ISC), WBCHSE (WB Board) and National Institute of Open Schooling, need not submit
the Migration Certificate for registration under the University of Calcutta.

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe community taking up four year
B.A./B.Sc honours & honours with research course must have a minimum of 40% marks in the
aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination,
as the case may be (applies to holders of valid certificates from the state of West Bengal only).

Aggregate marks in Higher Secondary (10+2) shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four
subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental
Education/ Studies shall not be considered for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject
“Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into
account to determine the aggregate marks.

Admission to any course in the College is provisional, subject to the final approval of the
University of Calcutta.

In the event of two or more candidates having the SAME INDEX in the merit list even after
following all the stipulated tie breaking rules, admission will be offered to the candidate who
applied earlier.

Students with Compartmental or Fail result in Class XII Board are not eligible to apply in any
courses.

Student who did not receive the Class XII mark sheet can upload eCopy of the result.

Any wrong information provided in the Application Form or during any time of the Admission
process will lead to cancellation of Admission

The admission will be offered to prospective applicants strictly on the basis of merit. To check
merit list, applicants must visit the website (www.vedantakc.edu.in) regularly. Prospective
applicants eligible for admission shall also be informed via sms/email.

The entire Admission process will be carried out in online mode. All information will be available
on the website from time to time.

Correct Email id & Phone number should be provided at the time of filling up the form. Email id &
Phone number will be verified. All the communications will be sent to the registered phone
number and email id only. College will not be responsible for non-receipt of any important
information due to incorrect email id or phone number.

All fees can be paid through online payment system.

Fee once paid will not be refunded and/or subject to Calcutta University / UGC guidelines

Physical verification of the Documents will be conducted later and till that time admission will
remain provisional. For the Admission purpose candidates will be required to upload soft copies
of the documents. Specific dates for physical verification of documents will be announced later.
Four-year B.Com. (Honours or Honours with Research)
A candidate taking up Major course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in
the aggregate (Best of 4 subjects) and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous
qualifying examination.
OR
55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination. Related Subjects (any one)
Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organization,
Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office and Secretarial
Practice, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy & Auditing, Book Keeping,
Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management, Commercial Law & preliminaries of
Auditing, Costing & Taxation.
Four-year B.A. (Honours or Honours with Research)
Calcutta University Criteria for Application:
A candidate taking up Major course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in
the aggregate and 45% marks in the Honours or related subject at the previous qualifying
examination.
OR
55% marks in the Honours or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
Please note: B.A. Sociology (Major) is not available for candidates from the Commerce stream.
Four-year B.Sc. (Honours or Honours with Research)
Calcutta University Criteria for Application:
B.Sc. Mathematics (Major)
Must have 55% in Mathematics.
Please Note: Candidate must have pass marks in Chemistry/ Physics in order to take Mathematics Hons.
Note: Business Mathematics is not considered a substitute for Mathematics and hence will not be eligible for B.Sc courses.
B.Sc. Physics (Major)
Must have 55% in Physics + PASS marks in Mathematics / Chemistry.
B.Sc. Chemistry (Major)
Must have 55% in Chemistry + PASS marks in Mathematics and Physics.
B.Sc. Zoology & Botany (Major)
Must have 55% in Biology.
Four-year BBA. (Honours or Honours with Research)
Calcutta University Criteria for Application:
A candidate taking up Major course in a subject must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate from any stream at the previous qualifying examination.
