Admission to PhD Programme 2026 (DURAT-I 2026)

Applications are invited from the intending candidates who have qualified the Dibrugarh University Research Admission Test (DURAT-I) 2026 and / or have qualified CSIR / UGC NET / GATE and / or having research fellowship from National level Government / Semi Government funding agencies and / or have passed M.Phil. programme (in regular mode and in the concerned subject) for admission to the Ph.D. programme, 2026 session in the following subjects:

For submission of the Online Applications, the intending candidates are advised to follow the following procedure:

  • The DURAT-I 2026 appeared candidates:
    • The following candidates that have appeared in DURAT-I 2026 are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme:
      The qualifying marks in DURAT-I 2026 (Phase – 1: Written Test) is 50%. However, candidates belonging to the reserved categories of SC/ST/OBC/Person with disability (PWD) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) shall have 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks in DURAT-I, 2026
    • The applicants shall have to login to the Admission Portal given in the website https://dibru.ac.in using the same Mobile Number and Password provided during online application for DURAT-I, 2026 and click on the Apply button corresponding to “Ph.D. Admission”. After filling up the online form, they need to click “Submit” button and make payment of Rs. 950/- only through the online payment gateway by using Debit (ATM) Card/Credit Card/ Internet Banking/UPI during the submission of the Application Form. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
    • The applicants need to submit the Print Copy of the application in the given format along with the following self-attested documents at the Office of the Department/ Centre of Studies where they wish to apply for the Ph.D. Programme:
      • Copies of the Pass Certificates and Mark Sheets from HSLC to Master’s Degree.
      • Copy of the DURAT-I 2026 score card.
      • Caste Certificate [in case the Candidate belongs to SC/ST and OBC/MOBC (Non Creamy Layer)] or certificates related to PWD and EWS.
      • No Objection Certificate (in case the Candidate is employed)
        The concerned Department/Centre of Studies shall publish the lists of Short-Listed Candidates prepared on the basis of the performance of the DURAT-I, 2026 and these candidates shall be eligible to appear in the Viva-Voce to be conducted by the Department/ Centres of Studies concerned.
  • The DURAT Exempted Candidates:
    • DURAT is exempted for the candidates who have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET/GATE and/or having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies and/or have passed M.Phil. programme (in regular mode and in the concerned subject)
    • The candidate shall be required to register in the Online application Portal given in the website- https://dibru.ac.in by entering Full Name, Password and a Mobile Number. The candidate will get an OTP in the Mobile Number which is to be entered for Activation.
    • After Activation, the candidates shall be required to login by entering his/ her Mobile Number and password. Internet Banking/UPI during the submission of the Application Form. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
    • The applicants can save and review the information entered before submission, which can be edited on subsequent login. However, after submission, editing of information shall not be possible.
    • On successful submission of the Online Application Form with Payment of Application Fee, the Candidates will get a Fee Payment Receipt. The Candidates should take a print out of the Payment Receipt and Application Form.
    • The applicants need to submit the Print-Copy of the application in the given format along with the following self-attested documents at the Office of the Department/ Centre of Studies concerned where they wish to apply for the Ph.D. Programme -
      • Copy of the Award Letter (in case of CSIR/UGC NET/GATE qualified candidates and/or candidates having research fellowship from National level Government/Semi Government funding agencies).
      • M.Phil. Pass Certificate and Marksheet (in case of M.Phil. qualified candidates).
      • Copies of the Pass Certificate and Mark Sheets from HSLC to Master’s Degree.
      • Caste Certificate [in case the Candidate belongs to SC/ ST and OBC/MOBC (Non-Creamy layer)] or Certificates related to PWD and EWS.
      • No Objection Certificate (in case the Candidate is employed).

Important Dates
Online Application portal shall open on 18.03.2026
Last date of online Application 26.03.2026 (till 11:59 pm)
Last date of receipt of hard copies of the Documents at the concerned Departments / Centres of Studies 30.03.2026 (till 5:00 pm)

Eligibility for Admission:

The intending candidates should ensure that their candidature is complied with the eligibility criteria for admission prescribed in Clause 12 (A) and 12 (B) of the Dibrugarh University Regulations for the Research Council and for the Degree of Ph.D., 2023


Reservation Policy:

Statutory Reservation Policy shall be followed (wherever applicable) in admission to the Ph.D. Programme.


Admission Procedure:

a) The list of the candidates short listed for Viva-Voce shall be notified by the concerned Department/Centre of Studies in the University website: www.dibru.ac.in.

b) There shall be a Viva Voce Examination for all the candidates as per the following details:

  1. For 30% weightage for the candidates qualified in the DURAT-I 2026.
  2. For 100% weightage for the candidates who are exempted from appearing the DURAT.

On completion of the Viva-Voce, the Teaching Departments/ Centres of Studies concerned shall prepare the Final Merit Lists for admission, which shall be notified in the University website along-with the date(s) for admission.

c) The candidates selected for admission shall be required to deposit the Admission and Course Fee as per the following details:

Admission and Course Fee for Working Professionals (Blended Mode) Rs. 20,000.00

d) All the Departments/Centres of Studies/DUIET shall complete the admission process by 03.04.2026
