Admission to PG Programmes for the session 2026-27

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to 2-Year Post Graduate Courses (Under NEP 2020) of the University of Gour Banga for the academic session 2026-27. Applicants are instructed to read carefully the guidelines provided below and the eligibility criteria before filling in the application form in the online portal of the University (https://www.ugbonlineexam.net/pgadmission ), also linked to the University official website www.ugb.ac.in . Validity of application is subject to successful uploading of required documents and no change is allowed after final submission of online application.

Mere Online submission of application form by a candidate does not automatically ensure his/her admission to the Programme.

Final Semester UG candidates who are awaiting their final results in 2026 are eligible to apply, provided they have cleared all previous semesters. Such candidates shall upload their CGPA/marks after the declaration of their final results, within due date.

  • Application Form:
    Online application form for admission to the various Courses is available only at the admission portal (https://www.ugbonlineexam.net/pgadmission ) of the University. Candidates interested in applying for more than one Course (Subject) will be provided with different choices of Subjects as per eligibility criteria.
  • ABC (Academic Bank of Credit) ID:
    According to the directives of UGC (University Grants Commission) all the applicants must have their valid ABC ID for submission of application Form for admission. Therefore, all applicants are requested to obtain their ABC ID before filling in the online application form. For details, please visit https://www.abc.gov.in .
  • Application Fee:
    In conformity with the notification of Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal (vide No. 638–Edn(U)/HED-12016(21)/5/2025-UNV SEC-Dept. of HE dated. 18.05.2026) the candidates need not pay any application Fee for online form fill up.

Application Procedure
  • Candidates are required to furnish accurate and authentic information in the online application form. The name of the candidate and their parents/guardians must be entered exactly as it appears in the relevant certificates, mark sheets, and identity documents. Any false information, discrepancy, mismatch, or suppression of facts detected at any stage of the application, verification, or admission process shall result in immediate cancellation of candidature/admission and disqualification without assigning any further reason.
  • The candidates shall fill in the application form only through online portal. Online application will be available on University Website (www.ugb.ac.in) with a link of PG ADMISSION (https://www.ugbonlineexam.net/pgadmission ) on and from 9 July, 2026 (02:00 P.M.) to 31 July, 2026 (11:59 P.M.).
  • To submit the online application form, students who have completed their Graduation degree in 2024, 2025 & 2026, shall visit the online portal https://www.ugbonlineexam.net/pgadmission and get themselves registered first by putting an active mobile number and Madhyamik/Secondary Registration Number or UID with year of passing. A unique USER ID and PASSWORD will be generated automatically and the candidate may proceed with further procedure. ABC ID is mandatory to fill the application form in the web-portal. The USER ID and PASSWORD must be kept secured as they will be required during the entire process of admission. The given Mobile Number and an Email ID of the candidate must be kept active at all times as they will be required for communication during the entire process of admission.
  • During the procedure of filling in the admission form, students are required to upload scanned copies of his/ her recent passport-size photograph (front facing), signature, proof for date of birth, all relevant mark-sheets (Secondary, Higher Secondary, Graduation), category certificate (if any), PWD/certification of differently abled (if any) and valid Registration Certificate issued by the University last Attended in the specified fields.
  • If a candidate has filled-in more than one online application form for a single subject, the candidate's last online application form only will be considered.
  • After filling in the form with required information and uploading the necessary documents, the student can download the completed application form by signing in using the USER ID and password.
  • Except for LL.M. Course, Students are required to submit their CGPA only in Honours (CBCS)/Single Major Subjects (NEP) as the case may be. Only the CGPA submitted at the time of application will be considered for merit list preparation.
  • If required, conversion from the CGPA to the Percentage of Marks obtained by the candidate will be done by multiplying CGPA with 10 (ten), irrespective of any specific formulae of conversion of the concerned degree given by the Board/University.
Selection Criteria
  • Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit as per marks obtained in Honours (CBCS)/Single Major (NEP) examinations. In case of applicants securing equal CGPA/percentage of marks in the said examination (tie situation), merit panel will be prepared considering CGPA/marks obtained by them in the order of (a) Minor subject (NEP) (b) Higher Secondary (Class 10+2 standard) Examination and thereafter (c) Madhyamik (Class X standard) and finally (d) Seniority in terms of Date of Birth.
  • Only those who have graduated from a recognized University (refer to Eligibility Criteria above) in 2024, 2025, and 2026 shall be eligible for admission. Those who have passed on or before 2023 will not be eligible for application.
  • Soon after the publication of the Provisional merit list, the University will seek intent/consent form (Online Form of Counseling or OFOC) from the candidates for short listing and smooth conduct of admission process. The submission of OFOC through the admission portal does not guarantee admission but refers the candidates’ willingness to take admission, if selected as per merit list. The Provisional Admission List will be prepared on the basis of revised merit list after receiving the filled in intent/ consent within a specific time as mentioned in the schedule from the students. IF ANY STUDENT FAILS TO SUBMIT THE ONLINE FORM OF COUNSELING OR OFOC WITHIN THE STIPULATED TIME, HIS/HER NAME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE PROVISIONAL ADMISSION LIST AND HE/SHE WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE ADMISSION.
  • After depositing the requisite fees required for taking admission in Semester-I using ONLINE mode the students will be considered as Provisionally Admitted. If a candidate fails to pay the requisite admission fee within the stipulated time, then the admission will be automatically cancelled. The candidate will not be considered for any further admission for the same subject.
  • Admission will be confirmed only after successful verification of all academic testimonials.
  • All communication related to admission will be communicated with the students through SMS and email. Therefore, students are requested to provide an ACTIVE MOBILE NUMBER AND EMAIL ID of their own and check the SMS inbox and email inbox regularly. Updates will also appear in the Notice section of the admission portal, and applicants are also requested to check the portal regularly. The University will not be liable for non-delivery of SMS/email due to any technical failure on the end of the service provider.
Important Dates / Tentative Schedule
The important dates mentioned herein are provisional and subject to modification in accordance with any subsequent orders or notifications issued by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, or as may be necessitated by emerging circumstances in the course of the admission process.
