Notification for Admission Test of B.Tech. (IT) Lateral Entry, 2026
Admission to the B.Tech. (IT) Lateral Entry program for a limited number of seats in the 2nd year (3rd semester) will be conducted through a one-hour written test (Total Marks: 50). This selection process is in reference to Advertisement No. F.No: 28-4/Acad/Admission/2025 (A) Pt – 2005, dated 4th June 2026. All candidates who have applied online and satisfied eligibility criteria** as per admission notification are requested to appear for the test as per the details below.
**Eligibility Criteria: Diploma course in Engineering / Technology in IT / Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) / Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with a minimum of 60% (55% in case of SC/ST/Differently-abled candidates) marks in aggregate from any recognized institution through a minimum of 3(three) years of institutional study after class 10/SSLC examination OR B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Electronics / IT / Computer Science / Physics / Mathematics with Mathematics as one of the subjects having secured a minimum of 60% (55% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) marks in aggregate from any recognized institution OR BCA with Mathematics at 10+2 level having secured a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) marks in aggregate from any recognized institution.

Important Rules & Guidelines:

In case any candidate fails to report at the reporting time and venue on the specified date mentioned above, he/she will forfeit his/her candidature.

The decision of the Admission Committee on all matters should be binding and final.

Required Verification Documents (in ORIGINAL):

A copy of the submitted application form.

Pass certificate of Degree/ Diploma in relevant discipline.

Pass certificates of all board/council examinations starting from HSLC or equivalent.

Mark sheets/grade cards of all board/council examinations starting from HSLC or equivalent including Diploma/BSC/BCA, which e\ever applicable.

Valid certificate for SC/ST issued by Deputy Commissioner (DC) or competent authority under the seal of DC’s office only.

Employment certificate issued from Registrar’s Office, NEHU (for NEHU Ward cases only).

Permanent Resident Certificate for those who are claiming the permanent resident of Meghalaya.

Date of Birth Certificate or HSLC certificate.

Programming in C: Introduction to Programming Language C: Data Types, Instruction and its Types, Storage Classes, Operators and Hierarchy of Operations, Expressions in C, Control and Repetitive Statements, break, continue, Functions: User Defined Functions and Library Functions, Local and Global Variables, Parameter Passing, Pointers, Arrays, Strings, C Preprocessors, Structures, Input and Output in C, C-Library.

Data Structure & Algorithm: Array, Linked list, Stack, Queue, Expression evaluation, Sorting, Tree, Graph.

Computer Organization & Architecture: Number system, Boolean Expression, Instruction, Central Processing Unit, Memory, I/O devices.

Operating Systems: Process and threads, Mutual exclusion, Semaphores, Deadlock, Memory management requirements, Virtual memory, scheduling algorithms.

Computer Networking: ISO/OSI Model, TCP/IP Model, Multiple access protocols, IEEE 802.X LANs and MANs-Ethernet, Token Ring, Token Bus, TCP and UDP.
