Ph.D. Admission 2026-27 (NET/JRF/GATE/CEED/GPAT/ICMR/ICAR) and PU Entrance Test 2024 & 2025
Notice regarding last date extended

This is inform to all Ph.D aspirants who have qualified UGC/CSIR (NET) including JRF, GATE, CEED, GPAT, ICMR, ICAR or any other prestigious test for National level scholarship/fellowship conducted by Govt. of India including PU Entrance Test 2024 & 2025 that last date for applying for admission to Ph.D program at UBS for the session 2026-27 has been extended from 14/09/2026 to 10/10/2026 till 04:00 P.M.

Instructions for the Candidates:

• Those candidates who have qualified the UGC/CSIR (NET) including JRF, GATE, CEED, GPAT, ICMR, ICAR or any other prestigious examination with Fellowship/Scholarship are advised to download the application form from UBS website link as under, for admission to Ph.D. programme for the academic session 2026-2027 and fill the details in Google form as well.

• All candidates are required to submit the hard copy of duly filled application form with annexure(s) (wherever required) via by post or by hand in the UBS office latest by 10/10/2026 (04:00 P.M.).
  (Note: The form will not be entertained after due date).
• Ensure that you have filled the Google form in advance before the submit the hardcopy of application of Ph.D. form Annexure I:

• All those candidates who have applied for the Panjab University Ph.D. Entrance Test - 2026 (for admission to the Ph.D. Program in Management at the University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh), for academic session 2026-27, are required to fill application form after declaration of Result of Ph.D. Entrance Test-2026, the dates for the same will be notified later on.
• Candidates are required to go through the Panjab University Ph.D. Guidelines 2023 (effective from 01.06.2023) on the following link.

• Reservation of seats of SC/ST/BC/PWD candidates would be done as per guidelines given in 5.2.3 (b) of PU letter No. ST. 4313-4512 dated 01.06.2023.

• Students who are exempt from Ph.D. entrance test 2026 to be conducted by PU are required to fill the attached application form without any fee. The application form can be submitted to the Office of University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh from 05/08/2026 to 10/10/2026 by 04:00 P.M.
• Applicant(s) called for Interaction / Interview should bring a written Research Proposal.

• Syndicate dated 25.03.2023 vide (Para 29), the following categories of candidates shall be eligible for enrolment/admission for Ph.D., if otherwise eligible:
  Panjab University shall admit Ph.D. scholars through Entrance Test conducted at the level of the University.
  • However, exemption from the entrance test will be given to those who have already cleared any of the National Test for the eligibility of lectureship like UGC/CSIR (NET) including JRF, GATE, CEED, GPAT, ICMR, ICAR or any other prestigious test for National level scholarship/fellowship conducted by Govt. of India.
  • Direct awardees of National/International fellowship for pursuing Ph.D. and working regular teachers of Panjab University are exempted from the entrance test. In case of Science and Engineering Departments / Institutes (because of the cost of the laboratory work) it will be the decision of the Academic Committee of the Department to decide whether the candidates who have cleared SLET/ Ph.D. entrance test without fellowship be admitted to Ph.D. Programme or not.
  • The GATE/GPAT or any other national level test meant for admission to Ph.D. be considered as per validity of score card.
  • Ph.D. Entrance Test of Panjab University for admission to Ph.D. shall be valid for 3 years.
  • International/Foreign Students who are being sponsored by the government body such as the ICCR or MHRD or a government agency of their own country, will be given direct admission to Ph.D. subject to the approval of the concerned Department or centre.
  • International/Foreign students who have been studying in India and are present in India at the time of the Ph.D. CET will have sit for the test and clear it in order to be considered for enrolment.
• Guidelines issued by the RDC vide letter No. 4313-4512 dated 01st June 2023 (available on PU website), may be carefully read by the Applicant(s).
