Admission to Ph.D. in Mathematics for the academic year 2026-2027

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Ph.D. in Mathematics programme at the Belur Campus for the academic year 2026-2027.

Last date to apply: 14 June, 2026

Eligibility

M.Sc. in Mathematics Students who have secured 60% or more till the end of their penultimate year of masters’ level studies may appear.
Applicants must also satisfy at least one of the following two conditions:
- Qualified for National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) Junior Research Fellowship and qualification in 2nd or 3rd category in CSIR UGC NET exam conducted in the past one year.
- Qualified for CSIR/UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship.
A candidate with an M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 can also apply provided he/she is qualified for the INSPIRE Fellowship.

Pay Application Fee: Submit the INR 500 application fee online.
Upload Documents: Upload necessary documents (photo, mark sheets, certificates etc.).
Download Sumary & Receipt: Save the application summary and fee receipt after payment.
Admit Card: Check the portal for Admission Test/Interview dates and download your admit card when available.

Admission Process

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an offline interview.

Note: Only full-time scholars will be admitted for the Ph.D. programme. No application for part-time Ph.D. will therefore be entertained.

Programme Fees Structure

Admission-cum-registration Fee (one time): Rs. 3,000/-
Academic fee (includes Fee for Tuition/Exam/Lab/ID-card, etc.) for each Semester: Rs. 25,000/-
Refundable Caution Deposit (one time): Rs. 3,000/-
Total fees to be paid during admission: Rs. 3,000/- + Rs. 25,000/- + Rs. 3,000/- = Rs. 31,000/- (Admission fees must be paid within last date as mentioned in the admission instruction)
Total fees to be paid at the beginning of every subsequent semester (6 months): Rs. 25,000/-
Total fees to be paid at the beginning of every subsequent semester (for Students admitted prior to 2025-26): Rs. 18,000/-
