Admission to Ph.D. Programme - Department of Chemical Engineering, 2025

Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D. programme in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta for the year 2025.

Eligibility: Post B.Sc.-B.Tech./B.Tech./B.E./M.E./M.Tech./M.Phil./M.Sc. Degree

Number of vacancies: 12 (Twelve)

Reservation:
Reservation in admission shall strictly be abided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules (latest).
It may be noted that the selected candidates, after successful completion of the Programme will be awarded "Ph.D. (Tech.)" Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Requirement of Ph.D. Entrance Test:
Candidates having Post B.Sc.-B.Tech./B.Tech./B.E. Degree or M.Sc. Degree are to appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test for the Ph.D. programme 2025 as per the Calcutta University PhD Regulations, 2016. Candidates appearing in the Final Semester/Year are also eligible.

Qualifying Marks for the Ph.D. Entrance Test will be 50% (as per provision 5.4 of the aforesaid Regulations)

Exemption from Ph.D. Entrance Test (as per provision 5.1 of the aforesaid Regulations): The students who have cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examinations/NET/SET/SLET/GATE or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship/Teacher Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech./M.E. or equivalent examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test and they are eligible for directly appearing at the interview.

Submission of filled in Application Form:
Application form is attached with this NOTICE (in Page # 2). Along with the filled in Application Form, submit self-attested copies of relevant academic mark sheets & certificates, self-attested copy of certificate for reserved-category candidates and receipt of deposited Application Fee of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred). The application form with all supporting documents should be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Calcutta, 92, A. P .C. Road, Kolkata - 700 009, between 12"00 Noon and 04:00 P.M. on any working day.

Mode of payment of Application Fees: Through State Bank Collect (detailed procedure is in Page # 3).

Last date for submission of filled in application form with all relevant documents: 16/10/2025 (within office hours)
