Online Applications are invited from UGC or UGC-CSIR NET qualified candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of Presidency University in various departments / school / institute for the session 2025-2026 (Odd). Only completed online applications will be considered. Applicants are required to pay Rs. 500/- as application fee after submission of online application form within stipulated date. No application will be considered without payment of Application Fee and Printout of the online generated Application form.

Essential Qualification
  • Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master's degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
    The Appearing candidates may also apply for provisional selection and admission. The appearing candidates are required to fulfil the essential qualifications by 31st July, 2025.otherwise eligible vide section 3 of the UGC Notification notified vide F. No. 1-3/2021 (QIP), dated 7th November, 2022 shall also be eligible to apply.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST Person with Disability (PwD) as per UGC guidelines.
  • UGC or UGC-CSIR NET qualified with valid NET certificate.
Application Procedure
Application form will be available in http://14.139.217.88/. Interested candidates are required to fill up the online application form. Application number will be generated after completion of online application. Use the system generated application number to pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs-500/- (and applicable bank charges) in SBI Collect Portal (https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm?corpID=469266).

Send/ drop the Application form along with Mark-sheets/Grade cards, Certificates, Synopsis of proposed research work (500 words) and copy of the Payment Receipt to the following address with last date:

Selection Procedure
All applicants are required to submit a research proposal within 500 words. Applicants may be shortlisted by the department/school/institute based on the research proposals/area of availability of guide in the proposed research areas and other academic criteria. All eligible candidates will have to appear at test & interview/interview, conducted by the Departmental Ph.D. Selection Committees of the University following the UGC guidelines. In interview, the candidates will be expected to discuss their research interests. Following the selection procedure, a list of qualified candidates will be published and displayed by the University through the official website. Candidates selected for the Ph.D. Programme will be attached to the respective Department/School/Institute at the time of their provisional selection and will be required to take admission on payment of a non-refundable fee, determined by the University.

Ph.D. Coursework will be exempted for the candidates who will fulfil the exemption criteria on the date of selection interview and if the Departmental Ph.D. Selection committee accepts & recommends the exemption. No request for Ph.D. coursework exemption will be entertained after the date of interview under any circumstances.

Meeting the bare minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee call for interview/selection.
