The B.A. (H) Economics programme aims to provide a sound understanding of core, pure and applied economics. While students study economics in considerable depth in this specialized degree, students also apply ideas and techniques from many other disciplines too; including analytics, computers, mathematics, statistics, and other ability enhancement courses. Apart from building core knowledge in economics, the course permits students to adopt electives of their interest in management subjects.

Course Structure
The University is offering a four-year undergraduate program in BA (H) Economics from the 2023-24 academic session.

1 Under Graduate Certificate in Economics A student opting for exit after 1 year may be awarded a certificate in Economics after fulfilling following conditions: Secured 40 credits as per BAE 1st year curriculum One vocational course of 4 credits during the summer vacation of the first year These students are allowed to re-enter the degree program within three years and complete the degree program within the stipulated maximum period of seven years.
2 Under Graduate Diploma in Economics A student opting for exit after 2 year may be awarded a diploma in Economics after fulfilling following conditions: Secured 80 credits as per BAE 1st and 2nd year curriculum One vocational course of 4 credits during the summer vacation of the first year/ second year. These students are allowed to re-enter the degree program within three years and complete the degree program within the stipulated maximum period of seven years.
3 3-Year B.A Economics (BAE) Degree A student opting for exit after completion of 3 years will be awarded a 3-Year BA Economics Degree after fulfilling following conditions: a) Secured 120 credits as per BA Economics 1st, 2nd and 3rd year curriculum. b) Out of the above 120 credits, secured 24 credits in GEC courses by studying a combination of Management and Data Science courses over six semesters. These students are allowed to re-enter the degree with honours program within three years and complete the degree program within the stipulated maximum period of seven years.
4 3-Year BA Economics Degree with a Minor A student opting for exit after completion of 3 years will be awarded a 3-Year BA Economics Degree with a Minor in Management/Data Science after fulfilling following conditions: Secured 120 credits as per BA Economics 1st, 2nd and 3rd year curriculum. b) Out of the above 120 credits, secured 24 credits by studying all GEC courses in Management to get Minor in Management Or secured 24 credits by studying all GEC courses in Data Science to get Minor in Data Science. MOOCS might be opted as per given guidelines. These students are allowed to re-enter the degree with honours program within three years and complete the degree program within the stipulated maximum period of seven years.
5 4-Year B.A. Economics (Honours) Degree A four-year B.A. Economics (Honours) Degree will be awarded after fulfilling following conditions: Secured 160 credits as per BAE 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year curriculum
6 4-Year BA Economics (Honours) Degree with a Minor Degree A 4-Year BA Economics (Honours) Degree with a Minor in Management/ Data Science will be awarded after fulfilling following conditions: Secured 160 credits as per BA Economics 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year curriculum. b) Out of the above 160 credits, secured 32 credits by studying all GEC courses in management to get Minor in Management Or secured 32 credits by studying all GEC courses in Data Science to get Minor in Data Science. MOOCS might be opted as per given guidelines.
7 4-Year B.A. Economics (Honours with Research) Degree The research track will be offered to students with CGPA greater than or equal to 7.5 at end of the fifth semester. A four-year B.A Economics (Honours with research) will be awarded after fulfilling following conditions: Student opts for research track at the start of 7th Semester. Secured 160 credits as per BBA 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year curriculum
8 4-Year B.A. Economics (Honours with Research) Degree with a Minor Degree The research track will be offered to students with CGPA greater than or equal to 7.5 at the end of the fifth semester. A B.A. Economics (Honours with Research) Degree with a Minor Degree will be awarded after fulfilling following conditions: Student opts for research track at the start of 7th semester. Secured 160 credits as per BAE 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year curriculum Secured 32 credits in minor/ specialization MOOCS might be opted as per given guidelines.
Note:
  • Exit and re-entry are allowed as per DTU's policy in this regard.
  • Those who wish to accomplish the four-year honours degree would be permitted to register for additional credits to complete the required 160 credits for B.A. (Honours) Economics four years program.
  • VAC, SEC, and AEC are mandatory.
Admission Eligibility
  • The candidate must have appeared in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) -UG 2025 being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • The candidate must have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate across five subjects in the Class 12 Board Examination from a recognised board and must also have passed Mathematics or Applied Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidates appearing for the examination may also apply, provided they submit proof of eligibility by the date specified by the University.
  • Candidates belonging to various reserved categories namely OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and sub-categories namely Defence, Person with Disability, who apply for seats reserved for them, shall be allowed a relaxation in the minimum marks criterion as mentioned below:
    • Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL): Candidates claiming reservation under Other Backward Class (NonCreamy Layer) category shall be allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum marks criterion in the qualifying examination.
    • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Candidates claiming reservation under Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) shall be allowed a relaxation of 10% marks in the minimum marks criterion in the qualifying examination.
    • Defence Personnel: Candidates claiming reservation under Defence sub-category (CW) shall be allowed a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum marks criterion in the qualifying examination.
    • Person with Disability (PwD): Candidates claiming reservation under "Person with Disability" (PD) sub-category shall be allowed a relaxation of 10% marks in the minimum marks criterion in the qualifying examination.
Admission Criteria
  • Admission to the BA (H) Economics programme for the 2025-26 academic session will be based on the scores obtained in the following combination of subjects in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) being administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA):
    Mathematics + Any two other domainspecific subjects + Any one language or alternatively any one additional domain-specific subject.
  • To resolve and determine inter-se merit of candidates having same score in the above-mentioned combination of the four subjects, the following criterion will be used in the stated order of preference:
    • Candidates having higher score in Mathematics in CUET will be given preference.
    • In case the score in Mathematics is same, then date of birth will be considered. Older candidate will be given preference.

Application Process
Interested candidates are required to fill the online application form available on www.dtu.ac.in.
The candidates are required to fill the online application form and make an online payment of Rs. 1,500/- (one thousand five hundred only). Incomplete application, due to any reason, is liable for rejection by the University.
Fee Structure
The annual fee of the B.A. (H) Economics programme will have to be deposited by the candidate at the time of admission. Candidates must note that the admission fee must be paid in single instalment failing which the admission offer will be withdrawn immediately. If the admission fee is not paid within the stipulated date, then the offer of admission given to them will be withdrawn automatically and the seat will be offered to the next eligible candidate.

Documents Required at the Time of Admission
Following is the list of documents required at the time of verification of documents, in the following order:
  • Print-out of the online application form duly signed by the candidate.
  • Score Card of CUET (UG)-2025.
  • Mark sheet of the qualifying examination i.e. Class XII or equivalent.
  • Date of Birth Certificate as indicated in High School or equivalent examination i.e. Class X.
  • Provisional certificate or Passing certificate from school duly stamped and signed by the principal.
  • Reserved category / sub-category Certificates, if applicable (The format for the same has been appended)
    Note: The name on the certificate, 12th mark sheet and caste certificate should be exactly same, otherwise an affidavit for the same has to be produced.
  • Medical certificate
    - The original documents are to be provided along with the self-attested photocopies of the same in the same order.
    - The timing and venue for document verification will be displayed on the DTU website.
