Delhi University is evaluating possible changes to its Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) after witnessing relatively low participation in the optional fourth year. The review is aimed at improving the programme's implementation while making efficient use of academic and institutional resources.
Under the proposed framework, fourth-year courses would be offered only at colleges with adequate infrastructure, qualified faculty, and the necessary academic facilities. This approach is intended to optimise resource utilisation while maintaining the quality of teaching and learning.

The Delhi University Principals' Association (DUPA) has endorsed the proposal, suggesting that conducting fourth-year classes across every college may not be sustainable from financial, academic, or administrative perspectives.
The association has recommended identifying host colleges based on several factors, including:
University officials have indicated that no decision has been finalised at this stage. The administration plans to examine complete admission and enrolment data after the current admission cycle concludes before determining whether the proposed cluster-based model should be implemented.
If approved, the revised arrangement would represent one of the first significant changes to the implementation of Delhi University's Four-Year Undergraduate Programme introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP).
