The candidates can modify the details filled in the application form (except the Programme Applied in, Name of the Candidate, Date of Birth, Registered Mobile Number & Registered Email ID) at the time when 'Window to Edit Application Form' opens. In case, the candidate changes his/her applied category during the "Window to Edit Application Form" period, the applicable additional application form fees will have to be paid by the candidate. However, no refund of excess fees will be made in the case of any category change.
* NID reserves the right to modify/change this schedule due to unforeseen emergent circumstances.
** Admit Cards will be available for download on the NID website (admissions.nid.edu) as per the schedule. Separate admit card (digital or hard copy) will NOT be provided to the candidates. It is the responsibility of the candidates to download and print their own Admit Cards. Reporting time will be mentioned in the Admit Card.     • Successful candidates admitted to B.Des. Programme at NID Ahmedabad will be required to attend a mandatory Design Foundation study of two-semesters duration. Allotment of a discipline of choice is based on a candidate's merit and preference only after successful completion of academic requirements of the Design Foundation Studies. Number of seats for Indian Nationals in Bachelor of Design programme, including reserved categories, is One Hundred & Twenty-Eight (128).
    • The decimal number is rounded off to the nearest whole number for deriving available seats in a particular discipline.
  • Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) at NID Andhra Pradesh:
    The four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme is offered at NID Andhra Pradesh in the following areas of specialization:

    • Successful candidates admitted to B.Des. Programme at NID AP will be required to attend a mandatory foundation programme of one-year duration.

    • The B.Des. programme at NID AP has 75 seats including all categories.
  • Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) at NID Haryana:
    The four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme is offered at NID Haryana in the following areas of specialization:

    The B.Des. programme commences with a two-semester rigorous Foundation Program followed by six semesters of specialized courses.
  • Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) at NID Madhya Pradesh:
    The four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme is offered at NID Madhya Pradesh in the following areas of specialization:

    NID, Assam offers full-time four year Bachelor's Programme in Design (B.Des.) with specialisation streams of Industrial Design, Communication Design, and Textile & Apparel Design with a multi-disciplinary approach to design education:

All candidates applying for the B.Des. must fulfil the eligibility criteria of both age and educational qualification as under.
  • Educational Qualification:
    Applications for academic year 2026-27 are open to candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2025–26 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent.
    Candidates who will be appearing for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2025–26, should have passed the same in the first attempt and submit their qualifying marksheet on or before 15 July 2026. If the candidate has any backlog/compartment/supplementary or fails to submit his/her Class XII passing result or have not cleared the Class XII examination on or before 15 July 2026, whatsoever may be the reason, his/her admission will be treated as null and void (cancelled) and the entire fees will be forfeited.
  • Examinations considered equivalent to these are as follows:
    • Final examination of the 10+2 system under a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU, Refer www.aiu.ac.in).
    • Intermediate or two-year pre-University examination under a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
    • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
    • Senior Secondary School examination under the National Institute of Open Schooling, with a minimum of five subjects.
    • Any public school, Board or University examination completed in India or in any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
    • H.S.C. vocational examination.
    • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level taken in London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka.
    • AICTE-approved three-year Full time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of any state in India or Union Territories as mentioned on www.aicte-india.org.
    • Candidates who are appearing or have completed final examinations for class XII (or equivalent) outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce an equivalence certificate from the AIU, New Delhi/ Ministry of Education, Government of India, confirming that the examination they are appearing or have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination conducted in India. This certificate is required to be submitted at the time of uploading of documents as mentioned in Section 2 of the Admissions Handbook. Note:
  • The percentage of seats reserved for candidates (Indian nationals only) belonging to various reserved categories are as prescribed in the Government of India guidelines (Refer Section 5 of this document for more information).
  • Candidates must choose one faculty stream from the following: Industrial Design (ID), Communication Design (CD), Textile, Apparel, and Lifestyle Accessory Design (TAAD), IT Integrated Design (ITID), or Interdisciplinary Design Studies (IDDS). Candidates can apply to a maximum of two disciplines within the chosen faculty stream only.
  • Based on the availability of the seats, the shortlisted candidates will be allotted a seat in order of merit in their respective category and will be purely based on the preference submitted by the candidate at the time of submitting their application. Under no circumstances will the candidate be allowed to change these preferences later.
  • Applications are received to a specific discipline within the chosen faculty stream and are not transferable at any stage of the admissions process.
All candidates applying for the M.Des. programme (any discipline) must fulfil eligibility criteria of both age and educational qualification as under.
Educational Qualification:
In addition to satisfying the above age criteria, the candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:
Bachelor's degree* or its equivalent in any discipline awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as an University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
In case the degree/certificate has been obtained from a University/Board of any country other than India, an equivalence certificate must be submitted to the Admissions Office by the candidate from the AIU, New Delhi/Ministry of Education, Government of India at the time of uploading of documents as announced in the Admissions Handbook. Candidates who are in the final year (appearing for the academic year 2025-26) of their Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in any discipline whose universities may not have issued the final degree certificate before the last date of application to NID, are also eligible to apply provided:
  • The candidate must have passed the final qualifying examination in the first attempt and submit the final result/marksheets of the qualifying degree examination, proving his/her eligibility, to the Academic Record Cell on or before 31 July 2026. If the candidate has any backlog/compartment/supplementary paper and has not cleared the final qualifying examination or fails to submit his/her final result on or before 31 July 2026, whatsoever may be the reason, his/her provisional admission will be treated as null and void (cancelled) and the entire fees will be forfeited.
  • Such candidates must also have appeared for all the subjects and cleared any backlogs (if any), of the qualifying examination, on or before 28 June 2026. They are required to submit a self-undertaking signed by both the candidate and their parents, along with an undertaking from their college or university confirming that the candidate has appeared or will be appearing for their final year qualifying examination without any pending backlogs by 28 June 2026. These undertakings must be submitted at the time of uploading of documents/seat allotment (as announced in Section 2). Any candidate who has not appeared in all the subjects of the qualifying examination on or before 28 June 2026, will not be eligible to participate in the further process of admissions.
  • Candidates who are still appearing for their final year examination, even after being granted provisional admission, must submit an additional certificate from their respective college/university (as per the format available on the website admissions.nid.edu). This certificate must be presented at the time of physical verification of documents, confirming the completion of their final qualifying examination by 28 June, 2026.
