Full-Time (Stipendiary/Fellowship holders):

  Candidates who have qualified through (i)UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT/DST/NETJRF/AICTE/GATE/AYUSH/INSPIRE/NFST Fellowship/NFSC Fellowship/ICMR Nurturing Clinical Scientists (NCS) Scheme/SJSGC/NFDIS/NFOBC.
- Self-Funded - Non-Stipendiary
  Candidates who does not occupy above two categories, however wish to pursue Ph.D. after passing SRIHER Ph.D. entrance exam, can do so by self-funding their research.
- Integrated (PG-Ph.D. and Others);
  - Integrated MD/MS - Ph.D.
    - In this sandwich Ph.D. program scholars during the time of admission to MD/MS courses shall exercise their option to undergo the Integrated Ph.D. program and file the necessary application for registration within TWO months of their admission to the postgraduate programs through Dean Research.
    - There shall be a selection process through interview by the Ph.D. Admission Committee along with invited national level experts, which may include those from funding agencies such as ICMR.
    - Integrated Ph.D. Full-Time program is evolved with minimum period of FIVE YEARS duration and maximum period of SIX YEARS.
    - The curriculum for the first three years would be the same as that of M.D./M.S. curriculum currently approved/modified from time to time by National Medical Commission (NMC). The scholar will take the Part-I Research Methodology Examination at the end of the second year of the postgraduate program. They will indicate the broad field of research during the second year of the postgraduate program and the Dissertation for the MD/MS postgraduate examination may form a part of their Ph.D. thesis to be submitted later.
    - Except for the above all the provisions of the Ph.D. regulations will be applicable for scholars enrolled in the integrated Ph.D. program.
  - Integrated PG-Ph.D. (All postgraduate degree other than M.D./M.S.)
    The integrated (PG-Ph.D.) Program may also be made applicable to other scholars undergoing the Master's Programs in other faculties subject to framing regulations for the same.
  - Integrated Ph.D. Engineering & Technology:
    Candidates who hold a B.Tech./B.E. degrees with an average of 75% marks or above from this or other recognized universities may be considered for an integrated Ph.D. in Engineering and Technology. The minimum required time for a full time student to complete the Ph.D. degree shall be four years. Integrated Ph.D. candidates shall take six extra courses at the postgraduate level compared to the regular Ph.D. candidates to develop breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of study.
- Split Ph.D. Program
  The Split Ph.D. program for full time candidates is designed to provide a chance to the scholar to conduct a portion of their Ph.D. Work in a recognized Foreign University / Institution or a recognized Indian University with which Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed University) has signed a Research MoU for the Split Ph.D. Program.
Part-Time Research Candidates:
- Part-Time (Internal)
  - A candidate who fulfills the regulations as per the qualifications specified in the Regulations (Clause-2) and working in this Deemed University as teaching faculty/researcher in a Department/Constituent College/Research Centre of this Deemed University to register himself/herself as a part time scholar (internal) for Ph.D. Degree. They should possess at least one year of continuous academic experience on the date of provisional registration.
  - Those who are working in this Deemed University employed in Clinical Training / Clinical Pharmacist / Administration / Technical / Non-Teaching full time Staff with 1-year of continuous experience may apply as Part-Time internal candidate on approval of their concerned Dean/Principal/HoD, etc.
  - Attendance requirement: Part time internal candidate shall be required to work under the Research Supervisor directly for 30 days in a year for instruction/discussion etc. during the prescribed period of research work.
- Part-Time (External)
  - Candidates may be permitted to register for the Ph.D. program on a part-time basis as external candidates if they satisfy the following:
    (i) Any one of the qualifications prescribed under Clause-2 of the Regulations.
    (ii) Full time regular employee with one year of continuous experience on the date of provisional registration, as a teacher/scientist/ researcher/ professional in National/State level institutions/ Laboratories/Research and Development Centres /Industries/ Universities and they shall submit 'NOC' from the institution/organization where they are employed and also for carrying out their Ph.D. work. The candidate must submit yearly proof of continuing the employment in the same organization with a service certificate.
    (iii) Self-employed individuals and consultants will be considered for admission to Ph.D. Program as Part-Time External Ph.D. Candidates on the recommendation of the proposed Supervisor and prior approval of the Dean (Research) and Vice-Chancellor. Candidates must provide documents supporting their research activity along with their six monthly report. Report could be a self-declaration or approved by relevant authorities wherever possible.
  - Attendance requirement: External candidates are expected to do research in their place of employment/research and in addition, should undergo such course work, examinations and research work as may be prescribed for 30 days in a year during the research period directly under the Research Supervisor at this University. The Research Supervisor at this Deemed University and Research Co-Supervisor of the candidate shall submit the certificate of attendance (with dates) along with six monthly progress reports within the stipulated time frame.
- Part-Time (Internal Independent Research)
  - A Head of the Department/Professor/Additional Professor/Associate Professor who is working in any department of this University with not less than fifteen years of teaching experience of which at least five years shall be at the postgraduate level and having a minimum of three research publications in peer reviewed indexed(Scopus/Web of Science/PubMed)/UGC Care Journals as first or corresponding author, is eligible to register for the Ph.D. Degree without a supervisor as "Part time Independent Research Candidate".
  - The Ph.D. Admission Committee will assess the applications received from the PartTime Independent Research candidates and recommend the selected candidates for provisional registration. The selected candidates are exempted from appearing for Entrance Examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for admission to Ph.D. program should have qualified with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade) in PG program.

2	Faculty of Dental Sciences	a) A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Dental Surgery (MDS) examination in different branches/specialities with at least 55% marks in aggregate in PG Program. b) BDS candidates within two years of completing their Degree, passing all BDS examinations in the first attempt with 60% or more aggregate marks from an Institute which is recognized by the Dental Council of India and holding ICMR Nurturing Clinical Scientists (NCS) Scheme Fellowship.
3	Faculty of Pharmacy	A candidate who has passed a Master's Degree in Pharmacy (M.Pharm.) Examination in various branches/specialities/Pharm.D. with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
4	Faculty of Nursing	a) A candidate who has passed M.Phil.(Nursing) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing) Degree Examination in different branches/specialities from a University which is recognized by UGC and Indian Nursing Council with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program. b) The candidate must have a minimum of one year teaching or Clinical experience after M.Sc. (Nursing) for enrolment in Ph.D. in Nursing.
5	Faculty of Physiotherapy	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy (M.P.T.) Examination in different branches/specialties (orthopaedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary sciences and women's health) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
6	Faculty of Allied Health Sciences	A candidate who has passed M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology or Master’s Degree in Trauma Care Management/Respiratory Therapy/Clinical Immunology/Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology/Urology Technology/Applied Child Development/Perfusion Technology/Renal Sciences and Dialysis Technology/ Medical Imaging Technology/Medical Laboratory Technology/ Neuroscience/ Clinical Nutrition/M.Optom./other Health Sciences which are not covered under Medical, Dental, Nursing and Physiotherapy with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
7	Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and Technology	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences / Biotechnology /Human Genetics /Bioinformatics /Applied and Regulatory Toxicology / Life Sciences/Zoology/Animal Sciences/Biological Sciences /Botany/Biochemistry/ Microbiology/Plant Sciences/Veterinary Sciences/Forensic Sciences/Regenerative Medicine/Environmental Sciences/Molecular Biology/ Biophysics with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
8	Faculty of Public Health	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Public Health/Environmental Health Sciences/Allied Health Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Health and Safety/Industrial Hygiene and Safety/Chemistry/Epidemiology/ Biostatistics/SocialWork/Nursing/Pharmacy/Physiotherapy/Psychology/Health Systems Management/Artificial Intelligence/Data Science/Medical Informatics/ Life Sciences, Master’s Degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Environmental/Computer/ Civil/Electric and Electronic Engineering and/or Technology, Master’s in Medical and Dental Sciences with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
9	Faculty of Management	a) A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Business Administration/ Management/PG Diploma in Management recognized as equivalent to MBA by AICTE; or b) Has Professional Qualification such as CA/ICWA/CFA/CS (either 5 year integrated or 3 years after graduation). with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
10	Faculty of Sports and Exercise Sciences	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in any field of Sports & Exercise Sciences, Physiology, Nutrition, Psychology, Biomechanics, Strength & Conditioning or equivalent/MD Sports Medicine/MPT-Sports/MPT-Ortho) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
11	Faculty of Clinical Research	Candidates with Master’s Degree in Clinical research or meeting eligibility criteria as prescribed in Faculty of Medicine, Dental Sciences, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
12	Faculty of Engineering & Technology	Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering A candidate who has passed M.Tech. / M.E. / M.S in disciplines of Engineering, Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program. Ph.D. in Computer Science A candidate who has passed M.Sc./MCA in disciplines of Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Applications, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program
13	Faculty of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology	A candidate who has passed M.Sc. (Speech & Hearing) / M.ASLP / M.Sc.(SLP) / M.Sc. Audiology or any other equivalent PG degree in Speech Language & Hearing Sciences from a RCI recognized training program/Speech & Hearing PG degree obtained elsewhere recognized by this University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or any equivalent grade in PG Program.
14	Faculty of Occupational Therapy	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.) Examination in different branches/ specialties (Paediatrics, neurology, Mental Health, Hand & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation) with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or an equivalent grade in PG Program.
15	Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences	A candidate who has passed Master’s Degree in Psychology/Mind Body and Lifestyle Science/Social work/humanities with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10 point scale or an equivalent grade in PG Program.

A candidate who has passed an Bachelor degree program with 4 years/ 8 semesters of study with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on the point scale of grading system, leading to one of the Post graduate program of this Deemed to be university. Such candidates will be admitted to PhD program in Full-time mode only.
Candidates who have received their 1-year / 2 semester Master Degree after 4 year / 8 semester bachelor's degree program or 2-years/4 semester Master's degree program after a 3-year bachelor's degree program or a qualification declared equivalent to the master's degree program by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
Further relaxation of 5% marks i.e. from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/persons with disabilities (more than 40% disability).
Candidates holding recognized/approved Postgraduate Degrees offered under UGC (ODL Regulations, 2020) registered with Distance Education Bureau are eligible to apply for Ph.D. Program offered at SRIHER (DU) in accordance with the eligibility criteria listed in clause - 2. Proof of recognition/approval shall be provided by the candidate.
Candidates who have received their Master Degree from Foreign Universities/Educational Institutions accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. Such candidates will have to produce a certificate of recognition/ equivalency by the competent authority as equivalent to the corresponding Indian degree for the purpose of higher education.

Admission Procedure

Procedure for Admission under all the Faculties of the Deemed to be University

All candidates must appear and qualify through online entrance examination expect those qualified through UGC-NET.
All candidate must appear for an interview for selection.
Candidates should submit the online application with a fee of Rs. 2000/-.
Performance of the candidate will be assessed based on the marks obtained in a written test - University entrance exam (70% weightage) and interview (30% weightage).
In case of NET category three qualification / eligibility, NET score will be weighted for 70% and interview will be weighted for 30%.

SRIHER Ph.D. Entrance Examination for all disciplines EXCEPT for Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Engineering and Technology

- The duration of the examination will be 2 (two) hours.
- The Entrance Examination will be conducted in ENGLISH only. The question booklet will consistof 120 multiple choice questions (MCQ's) (single best response).
- The written test will have two sections, Section A & B.
  - Section-A: Research Methodology: Common to all disciplines will have 60 questions (answerall questions)
  - Section-B: Discipline Specific: Candidates will attempt questions from one of the following disciplines: Medicine / Dentistry / Pharmacy / Nursing / Physiotherapy / Biomedical Sciences / Management / Allied Health Sciences / Public Health / Sports & Exercise Sciences / ClinicalResearch / Audiology and Speech Language Pathology / Occupational therapy / Behavioral and Social Sciences. The candidates will indicate the selected faculty/discipline in the application form.
  - The Section-B will have 75 questions and the candidate can attempt any 60 questions. The first 60 questions attempted will be considered for evaluation.
- All questions carry equal marks. There will be no negative mark for incorrect answers.

- The examination will be online proctored for 75 marks, 2 hours. There will be no negative markings for wrong answers.

The qualifying mark for provisional admission to Ph.D.
- For all disciplines program EXCEPT Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Engineering and Technology is 50% in the online entrance examination (i.e. aggregate of marks obtained in written test and interview taken together). However, a relaxation of 5% of marks (from 50% to 45%) shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination.
- For all disciplines program for Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Engineering and Technology is 60% in the online entrance examination (i.e. aggregate of marks obtained in written test and interview taken together). However, a relaxation of 5% of marks (from 60% to 55%) shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/Differently-abled category in the entrance examination.
- All the NET-Ph.D. eligible candidates must attend the interview.
