Merit List & Selection Criteria 2025
Admission to M.Music Course

  • Merit List:

    1. Merit list of PART-A candidates with B.Mus. Hons. from University of Calcutta current year will be prepared by the Marks obtained in B.Mus. Hons. Subject.
    2. Merit list of PART-B candidates will be made through an Entrance Test to be conducted by the department. Entrance Test involved Practical and viva voce.
  • Selection Criteria:

    Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit and subject to availability of seat.

    B.Mus. Hons. candidates will be given preference in both C.U. Graduate and NON C.U. Graduate.



Others Rules for Selection:

  1. Draft Merit List following the above will be published. All the applicants must check the Draft Merit List specially Hons. Marks, Genl. Marks, SC/ST/PWD/EWS/OBC-A/OBC-B, Year of Passing, Passed / Appeared and order of preference of courses. If there is any mistake, please report immediately in writing using “Format – I” to the concerned Secretary Office within stipulated time as mentioned in admission schedule. No claim will be entertained later.
  2. Existing SC/ST/ OBC-A/OBC-B /PWD/EWS reservation rules will be followed separately in both ‘PART-A’ 60% seats earmarked for C.U. students and ‘PART –B’ 40% seats earmarked for both Non-C.U. & C.U. students.
  3. If sufficient no. of suitable SC/ST/ OBC-A/OBC-B /PWD/EWS candidates are not available in ‘PART-A’ the same may be filled up by the other ‘PART –B’ and vice versa.
  4. If an applicant gets chance in different positions in both ‘PART –A’ & ‘PART-B’, the higher preference will be offered to the applicant.
  5. All ‘PART-B’ applicants have to appear in the Entrance Test and will be placed in the Merit list of ‘PART –B’.
  6. Any ‘PART-A’ (current year passed out C.U. with B.Mus.) applicant may or may not appear in Entrance Test where Entrance Test is not mandatory.
  7. If any current year graduate ‘PART-A’ (current year passed out C.U. with B.Mus.) applicant does not appear in the Entrance Test where Entrance Test is not mandatory then the applicant will be placed in the Merit List of ‘PART –A’ only.
  8. If any ‘PART-A’ (current year passed out C.U. with B.Mus.) applicant appears in the Entrance Test then the applicant will be placed in the Merit List of both ‘PART –A’ & ‘PART-B’.
  9. In case of ‘PART-B’, the candidate will not be in the Merit List, if he or she fails to appear in the Entrance Test.
  10. If an applicant gets chance in different positions in both ‘PART –A’ & ‘PART-B’, the higher preference will be offered to the applicant. If an applicant gets chance in same preference from both ‘PART –A’ & ‘PART-B’ and got selected for admission, his/ her seat will be treated under ‘PART –A’.
  11. Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of score with fractional weightage of different fractions (like entrance test, qualifying exam marks, 10+2 level exam marks, interview, etc.), the SC/ST/PWD candidate should obtain final score not lower than 25% than that of obtain by the last candidates admitted of UR Category.
  12. Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the SC/ST/PWD candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower than 25% than that of obtained by the last candidates admitted of UR Category.
  13. For SC/ST/PWD candidates, a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate shall be admissible on last qualifying marks (if applicable) in minimum eligibility requirements for submission of applications in comparison to general candidates. For example, if eligibility marks for General Candidates be 60% then the eligibility marks for SC/ST/PWD Candidate will be 55%. Similarly 5 % relaxation in H.S. marks (Where applicable) will be admissible.
  14. Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of score with fractional weightage of different fractions (like entrance test, qualifying exam marks, 10+2 level exam marks, interview, etc. ), the OBC-A/OBC-B candidate should obtain final score not lower than 10% than that of obtain by the last candidates admitted of UR Category.
  15. Where merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance test only, the OBC-A/OBC-B candidate should obtain marks in the entrance test not lower than 10% than that of obtained by the last candidates admitted of UR Category.
