Last Date for online submission of application is 21/8/2025.

As per the order of the Govt. of West Bengal there is no application fee. However, there will be Admission Test fees of Rs.100/- for applicants belongs to SC/ST/PD/EWS categories and Rs.200/- for other applicants.
Last date of submission of online admission test fees is 22/8/2025.

Eligibility Criteria
Bengali 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognised University with at least 60% marks (54% for OBC category and 45% for SC/ST/PD/ Sports category) in Honours papers.

(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Comparative Literature A Bachelors degree* with a minimum of three years of formal instruction with Honours/Major/Specialization in any subject in Arts/Science/Commerce stream with at least 55% marks (49.5% for OBC category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD/Sports category) in Honours/Major/Specialization papers or a Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised Bachelor degrees*, with a minimum of three years of formal instruction and with at least 55% marks (49.5% for OBC category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD/Sports category).

(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Economics 3-Year B.A./B.Sc Honours degree* or Major in Economics from a recognised University with at least 60% marks (54% for OBC category and 45% for SC/ST/PD/ Sports category) in Honours papers and at least two papers/courses in Mathematics or Mathematical Economics in U.G level. All candidates should passed Mathematics (not Business Mathematics) in 10+2 level.

(In case Honours/ Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then his/her BA Degree will be considered to be equivalent to Major in Economics if he/she had studied course/ papers in Economics for at least 50% of total marks for the BA degree.)
Education 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in Education from a recognised University with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC category and 40% for SC/ST/PD/ Sports category) in the Honours papers.

(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

Linguistics 3-Year Honours degree* or Major in any literature or non-literature subject in Arts/Commerce/Science stream with at least 50% marks (45% for OBC Category and 40% for PD/Sports/SC/ST category) in Honours papers or Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology degrees.

(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Philosophy 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in Philosophy from a recognised University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for OBC category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD/Sports category) in Honours papers.

(In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then his/her BA Degree will be considered to be equivalent to Honours in Philosophy if he/she had studied a BA degree course with at least 800 marks in aggregate, of which at least 50% marks in Philosophy.)
Political Science with International Relations 3-Year B.A. Honours degree* or Major in Political Science from a recognised University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for OBC category and 41.25% for SC/ST/PD/Sports category) in Honours papers.

Selection Procedure
For Comparative Literature Selection will be made on the basis of marks secured in the Admission Test. There will be a single paper for all candidates.
For Bengali (Day) & Bengali (Evening), Economics, Political Science with International Relations, English, History (Day) & History (Evening), Sociology Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test in the subject concerned.
For Film Studies, Linguistics Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test.
For Philosophy Selection will be made on the basis of equal weightage on the marks secured in the Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject.
For Sanskrit (Day) & Sanskrit (Evening) Selection will be made solely on the basis of Admission Test in the subject concerned.
For Education Selection will be made on the basis of
1) 20% weightage of marks obtained in Secondary or equivalent examination,
2) 30% weightage of marks obtained in H.S. or equivalent examination
3) 50% weightage of marks obtained in Honours papers.

How to calculate the marks obtained
For Secondary or equivalent On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in class 10th board examination.
For Higher Secondary or equivalent On the basis of:
1. W.B.C.H.S.E.: Best of 4 subjects excluding marks of Environmental Studies/Environmental Education/Environmental Science (out of 400 marks)
2. Central Board of Secondary Education: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
3. Council for the Indian School Certificate: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
4. Other Boards: Best of 4 subjects (out of 400 marks)
For Honours Graduates (Non-CBCS system) On the basis of aggregate of all marks obtained in Honours papers only
For Honours Graduates (CBCS system) On the basis of aggregate of marks obtained in Core papers and DSE papers only
