PhD Admission Guidelines and Vacant Seats 2026

Guidelines for admission in Ph.D. programme given below:
  • The Online applications from the candidates who have qualified PAT /NET/JRF have been invited for admission in Ph.D. programme till January 21, 2026.
  • The Admission in Ph.D. programme will be against the vacant seats declared as follows:

  • The Department concerned will conduct the interview within a week after the last date of submission of online applications and the merit list should be prepared on the basis of the Ordinance and Regulations governing award of Ph.D. Degree by the Universities of Bihar approved vide letter no. BSU-05/2020-2684/GS (I) dated 21.09.2017 of the Governor's Secretariat, subsequent Amendments approved vide letter no. BSU (Regulations) - 05/ 2010 -3230 dated 18.12.2018 and as per the Reservation policy of the State Government.

    Model of Weightage marks to be awarded against percentage aggregate marks for Master Degree Examination is mentioned below:-

  • The final merit list will be approved by the Department Council on the basis of availability of seats and reservation policy of the State Government.
  • At least two to three candidates of each category will be kept on the waiting list for admission in case the selected candidates do not turn up for admission within the due date.
  • The Department will publish the final selection list on its notice board and the same should be forwarded to the Professor Incharge, I.T. Cell, Patna
  • A letter will be issued by the University on the basis of the recommendation of the Department for Provisional Admission in the Ph.D. programme and the finally selected candidate will have to deposit online Course Work fee of Rs. 2000/- (two thousand) only immediately as per the provision contained in clause 7.1 of the Uniform Ordinance & Regulations.
  • The Course work for the provisionally admitted students will begin from February 21, 2026 at the Faculty level.
  • As per the provision contained in clause 7.2. & 7.3 of the Uniform Ordinance and Regulations, the Course Work of one semester would include two papers. Paper I will be conducted by Faculty concerned and Paper II will be conducted by the Department concerned.
