The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has acknowledged discrepancies in the assessment of two Class 12 answer sheets and announced that marks in both cases will be revised. The matter gained widespread attention after a student reported that the Physics answer sheet uploaded through the board’s Online Script Monitoring (OSM) system did not belong to him.
The controversy began when Class 12 student Vedant Srivastava shared his experience on social media after accessing copies of his evaluated papers. He claimed that the Physics answer booklet provided by CBSE appeared to belong to another candidate, creating anxiety over possible errors affecting final marks and college admissions.
Following public discussion online, CBSE reviewed the complaint and confirmed that a mismatch had occurred in the Physics answer sheet. The board also examined another complaint linked to a Chemistry paper submitted by a different student, leading to additional scrutiny of the evaluation and verification process.
According to reports, CBSE officials later contacted Vedant directly and shared what they identified as his correct Physics answer booklet. The board also informed him that his marks would be updated after the correction process was completed.
In a later social media update, Vedant appreciated the response from CBSE but stated that he still intended to request a formal re-evaluation after reviewing the corrected answer sheets in detail.
Around the same time, another student highlighted concerns related to a Chemistry answer sheet evaluation. The student stated online that CBSE had accepted the validity of the complaint and was expected to take further action regarding the issue.
Reports indicated that the board treated the matter as a priority after the issue gained traction on social media platforms. However, the controversy also sparked debates online regarding whether the original answer sheet had actually gone through the OSM system before the complaint surfaced publicly.
The developments have intensified discussions around CBSE’s post-result systems, including answer sheet verification, access to evaluated scripts, and the overall transparency of the re-evaluation process available to students after examination results are declared.
