The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approached Delhi Police after a series of cyberattack attempts targeted its post-result services portal. The platform is currently being used by thousands of Class 12 students seeking mark verification and answer script re-evaluation following the announcement of board examination results.
CBSE has submitted a formal complaint to the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police. The Board has described the incidents as coordinated and technically sophisticated attempts aimed at interfering with the normal functioning of its online services.
The portal, launched on June 2, enables students to apply for services such as verification of marks and re-evaluation of answer scripts. Over the following days, the system reportedly experienced multiple waves of suspicious digital activity.
According to the Board, the attacks involved large volumes of traffic generated from numerous internet addresses located both within India and abroad. The apparent objective was to overload the platform, restrict access for legitimate users, and attempt unauthorized retrieval of information.
CBSE stated that its digital infrastructure remained secure throughout the incidents. Officials reported that no unauthorized access was detected and there was no indication that student records or internal databases were compromised.
Continuous monitoring and cybersecurity response measures reportedly helped neutralize the threats and maintain uninterrupted service availability.
The Board acknowledged the assistance of several cybersecurity and technology institutions, including experts from IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, the Digital India Corporation, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), and CERT-In. These organizations contributed to the protection and monitoring of the portal during the attacks.
CBSE has sought a detailed investigation into the incidents and has urged law enforcement authorities to identify those responsible and initiate appropriate legal action.
