The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the Class 12 board examinations that were scheduled to take place from March 9 to March 11 in several West Asian countries because of concerns about the ongoing conflict in the region.
The examinations have been delayed in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Officials stated that the revised dates will be announced after reviewing the situation.
Earlier, the board had also cancelled a number of Class 10 examinations that were planned between March 2 and March 11 in the same countries.
According to a notice issued by examination controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, the decision was taken after assessing the conditions in areas affected by the tensions. The board will review the situation again on March 10, 2026, and decide whether exams scheduled from March 12 onward can proceed.
Students have been advised to remain in contact with their schools and closely follow official announcements for further updates.
CBSE also stated that the process for declaring Class 10 results for students in these countries will be announced later.
Nearly 150 CBSE-affiliated schools operate across these seven West Asian countries. The board examination session began on February 18. This year, about 2.5 million students are appearing for the Class 10 examinations, while approximately 1.86 million students are taking the Class 12 tests.
