CISCE Mandates Teacher Data Update by April 30 for 50-Hour Training Programme | News

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has instructed its affiliated schools to update teacher information on its official portal by April 30. This initiative is aimed at developing a structured training calendar to help educators and school leaders adapt to evolving teaching methodologies.

The council emphasized that classrooms today are increasingly influenced by competency-based learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and modern technologies. As a result, continuous professional development has become a key component of effective teaching and curriculum implementation.

Earlier, on March 29, a training schedule for the academic session beginning in April was released to help schools plan accordingly.

CISCE has made it mandatory for all educators to complete 50 hours of continuous professional development (CPD) annually. This requirement aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the National Curriculum Framework for School Education, and NCERT guidelines.

Out of these 50 hours, at least 25 hours must be completed through in-person sessions conducted by the council, while the remaining 25 hours can be fulfilled at the school level.

Training sessions will cover various topics such as competency-based education, foundational literacy and numeracy, inclusive education, school leadership, technology and AI integration, student well-being, socio-emotional learning, and subject-specific preparation for ICSE and ISC courses.

Updating teacher data by the specified deadline is compulsory for all CISCE-affiliated schools to ensure participation in training programmes and compliance with CPD requirements. Teachers handling Classes IX to XII must also take part in subject-specific training sessions.

Several schools have indicated that they need to allocate part of their budget for teacher training. Institutions are required to upload details such as teacher qualifications and the classes they teach.

School administrators have highlighted logistical challenges, noting that academic schedules must be carefully managed so teachers can attend training without disrupting classes. Teachers are often engaged in examination-related duties, including invigilation and evaluation, which may coincide with the start of the academic session.

Some school leaders have also pointed out the financial burden of sending teachers to distant locations for training. They suggested that training programmes should consider regional and economic contexts. Additionally, since student demographics vary across schools, training should be flexible and tailored to meet specific institutional needs.
