The University of Delhi has started admissions for its newly introduced one-year postgraduate programmes, becoming one of the first institutions to implement this academic pathway under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Registrations opened on July 5 and are currently available only to students who have completed Delhi University's four-year undergraduate programme under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022.
Admissions to the one-year master's programmes will be granted on the basis of merit. Applicants must have completed a four-year bachelor's degree from Delhi University and meet the eligibility requirements for their selected postgraduate course. Applications can be submitted through the university's postgraduate admission portal.
The initiative forms part of Delhi University's phased implementation of NEP 2020, allowing eligible graduates to complete a master's degree in one year instead of following the traditional two-year postgraduate route.
Students who have successfully completed a four-year undergraduate programme with the required academic credits are eligible to pursue the accelerated master's degree. Alongside this, the university has also opened admissions for its two-year M.Sc. programme in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology for candidates who have qualified the GAT-B 2026 examination.
The undergraduate admission process is continuing through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). The university has received more than 1.48 lakh applications, while over 62,500 applicants have completed Phase II by selecting their preferred courses and colleges. The deadline for submitting Phase II preferences is July 11.
Admissions to the standard two-year postgraduate programmes are also progressing, with approximately 9,500 students admitted so far. The current admission window will remain open until 11:59 pm on Sunday. The third allocation list, covering both regular postgraduate courses and performance-based programmes such as MFA, B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., and Music, is scheduled to be released on July 9.
Delhi University has published the second seat allocation list for B.Tech admissions. Candidates who have secured a seat must confirm their acceptance by July 8.
Meanwhile, registrations are underway for the first spot admission round of the five-year integrated law programme. Interested candidates can apply until July 7.
