The Bihar government has announced special travel assistance for students appearing in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
In response to the difficulties faced by students after the cancellation of the original NEET examination, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary declared that candidates will be allowed to travel without charge on all state-operated buses during the re-exam period.
The NEET-UG 2026 exam was earlier cancelled following allegations connected to a paper leak controversy. As a result, lakhs of students across India are now preparing to retake the examination under revised arrangements and tighter security measures.
Along with free transportation, the Bihar government has encouraged district administrations, NGOs, temples, and community organisations to assist students and guardians during the examination period.
Authorities have been requested to arrange basic facilities such as drinking water and light refreshments at railway stations, bus terminals, and other crowded public locations where students may gather while travelling.
The controversy surrounding the NEET examination continues to trigger political reactions nationwide. Several leaders have raised concerns regarding examination management, transparency, and student welfare.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan stated that incidents affecting national-level examinations must be handled more responsibly to maintain public trust and avoid similar situations in the future.
Reports also indicate that officials from the National Testing Agency informed a parliamentary panel that only certain questions were allegedly circulated before the exam, rather than the complete paper itself.
