Aspirants who appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 can now access the provisional answer keys along with their individual response sheets. This enables candidates to evaluate their performance and estimate their probable scores before the official results are announced.
The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has uploaded the answer keys and response sheets on the official GATE 2026 portal. Candidates can log in using their application number, registered email ID, and password to download the documents.

GATE 2026 was conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The examination covered 30 subject papers and followed the standard pattern, including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
Along with the provisional answer key, the organising institute has enabled an online objection window. Candidates who identify discrepancies may submit challenges within the specified deadline, supported by valid justification. After reviewing all objections, the authorities will release the final answer key.
Using the provisional answer key and their recorded responses, candidates can calculate an estimated score ahead of the results. Most core engineering papers carry a total of 100 marks, distributed as follows:
Some papers such as Geology & Geophysics, Architecture & Planning, and Geomatics Engineering follow a two-section format with compulsory and optional parts. However, General Aptitude remains worth 15 marks in all papers.
The GATE 2026 results are scheduled to be announced on March 19, based on the final answer key.
GATE scores are used for admission to postgraduate programmes such as MTech and PhD at IITs, NITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. Additionally, many public sector undertakings (PSUs) consider GATE scores during their recruitment processes.
