Engineering aspirants nationwide are eagerly waiting for the JEE Main 2026 January session results, which are expected to be announced shortly by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The results will be released after the final answer key is prepared, marking an important milestone for students seeking admission to leading engineering institutions such as IITs and NITs.
According to current expectations, the NTA is likely to declare the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results by February 12, 2026, though an official confirmation is still pending. This announcement will formally wrap up the evaluation process for one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations.
The January session examinations were conducted between January 21 and January 29, 2026. Since then, candidates have been awaiting their scorecards following the conclusion of the provisional answer key challenge period.
The test was held in computer-based format across multiple shifts, including morning and afternoon slots, to accommodate the large number of applicants.
Earlier this month, the NTA released the provisional answer key along with candidates’ response sheets, allowing students to submit objections. The objection window closed on February 6, after which the agency began preparing the final answer key.
The final answer key is expected to be published soon on the official JEE Main website and will serve as the foundation for calculating candidates’ percentile scores. Once released, the official results will be made available on the same portal.
JEE Main scores are reported in the form of percentiles rather than raw marks. These percentiles reflect a candidate’s relative performance compared to others, indicating the proportion of test-takers who scored the same or lower. The scorecard will include individual percentiles for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, along with an overall percentile.
All India Ranks will not be issued after the January session. Instead, the NTA will release consolidated rankings after the completion of Session 2, which is scheduled for April 2026. The final rank will be based on the best performance achieved across both sessions.
Candidates who meet the qualifying criteria will be eligible to take part in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process. This centralized counselling system handles admissions to institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical colleges.
Academic experts advise students to carefully review their results once announced and consider appearing for the April session if they aim to improve their percentile or overall standing.
After both JEE Main sessions conclude and the All India Ranks are published, eligible candidates will proceed to the counselling phase—an essential step toward securing admission to undergraduate engineering programs across the country.
Additional information regarding cut-off scores, counselling timelines, and institute-wise opening and closing ranks is expected to be released alongside or soon after the final results.
