Notice for Admission to Ph.D Programme in Polymer Science and Technology 2025

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. program in Polymer Science & Technology. Candidates willing to pursue research work leading to the Ph.D. (Tech.) degree in Polymer Science & Technology, University of Calcutta, should apply online in the enclosed prescribed format to the HOD email address depst@caluniv.ac.in by 15th September 2025. All candidates are requested to download the Application Form from University website (www.caluniv.ac.in) and submit the filled up Application Form, self-attested copy of relevant mark sheets, along with the receipt of deposition of Application Fee of 100/-. (one hundred only) paid through State Bank Collect (Go to https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect/ then proceed - state (West Bengal), type of corporate -educational institution-Calcutta university online payment-payment for MISC fees-category- application for admission to Ph.D. Fill up, ignore registration no, in the remark box also write application for admission to Ph.D., take pdf softcopy, print out and attach with your softcopy of the filled application form) and send within the due date to the mentioned email.

Eligibility

Interested candidates (including those working in various projects under departmental faculties but yet to register for Ph.D.) having degree in Bachelor of Technology (subject to provision of 4.4 of Ph.D. regulation) or Engineering (any stream) or Master of Science (any stream) without NET/GATE/M.Phil. are invited to appear for a written examination of RET. Candidates having degree in Master of Science with NET/GATE/M.Phil or candidates having degree in Master of Engineering or Technology need not sit for the written test of RET and they may directly appear for the interview of the RET. Percentage of marks obtained at the Master's level should be at least 55%. Successful candidates (in written test and/or interview of RET) will be eligible to enroll for their Ph.D. in the Department of Polymer Science and Technology.

The written test will be of 75 marks based on research methodology and the basics of Chemistry, Physics and Polymer Science and Technology. The written test will be followed by an interview.
