A candidate taking up Honours in a subject must have obtained:
A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination. In case of Music (Hons.) 45% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject Music in the previous qualifying examination
OR
55% marks in the subject or related subject in the previous qualifying examination
OR
50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled tribe category must have obtained 40% marks in the aggregate and 40% marks in the subject/related subjects at the previous qualifying examination (10+2 level) for being eligible for admission in the Honours programme of study.However, if in any Honours subject, the number of applications is so low that even the permitted intake of the college cannot be filled up, then the Principal/Teacher-in-charge may use his/her discretionary power to relax the minimum requirement criteria for admission in that particular subject. A written communication in that regard must reach the Registrar for consideration of that decision for final approval by the Vice Chancellor of the University and the decision will be communicated to the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal.
