Prospective candidates for the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Statistics and Data Science program at Symbiosis Statistical Institute must fulfil the following academic requirements.

A graduate degree in Statistics and/or Mathematics as principal and/or subsidiary level from any statutory / recognized University / Institution of National Importance with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes).

Note: B.E./B.Tech. with Mathematics/Statistics at the Subsidiary Level may also apply.

  • Personal Interaction (PI):
  - A comprehensive one-on-one interview with a panel of experts. PI provides a platform for candidates to showcase their capabilities and aspirations, fostering a holistic understanding of their potential.
  - Designed to understand and assess the candidate's aptitude, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• Conduction of Writing Aptitude Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI):
  - For admission process of AY 2026-27, WAT has been waived off.
  - Only PI will be conducted and will happen in an ONLINE mode for AY 2026-27 as per scheduled mentioned under Important Dates for admission process.
  - The details of PI schedule along with meeting link will be shared near to the date of PI after registration process is complete.
  - Applicants are encouraged to prepare for Personal Interaction to present their best selves during selection.
• Syllabus for Writing Aptitude Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI):
  - For admission process of AY 2026-27, WAT has been waived off.
  - The PI will be based on the syllabus up to BSc (Statistics).
  - More focus will be on situation specific application of Statistics
  - Applicants are encouraged to prepare for Personal Interaction to present their best selves during selection.

M.Sc. (Applied Statistics and Data Science) International Students
