Subject Combination

Students of Honours Courses will opt for two General Subjects and students of General Courses will opt three General Subjects. In addition, students of Honours as well as General Courses have to opt for one compulsory paper of any one of the following languages - Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Alternative English, Lepcha, Limboo, Bhutia, Modern Tibetan. In our college, except Bengali, all other Languages are Non-Taught subjects. (Compulsory Language Bengali & English).

Subject restrictions (for opting Elective Subjects) :

• No candidate shall be allowed to take up more than one of the following language subjects as elective :
  a) Elective English, b) Elective Bengali & c) Sanskrit.
• A candidate studying honours in a language subject shall not be allowed to take up another language subjects as elective.
• A Candidate prosecuting Honours in a subject shall not be allowed to take up the same subject as elective.
• All students of Geography Honours have to opt Economics as one of the elective subject.
• Geography and Physical Education cannot be taken simultaneously.
• Mathematics and Political Science cannot be taken simultaneously.
• Economics, Physical Education and Education cannot be taken simultaneously.
• No student of Honours category of Arts stream other than those of Geography and Economics shall be allowed to take Computer Science and Mathematics as elective.
• Candidates having certificates of District/State/National/International level sports are eligible to apply for Physical Education as a General elective subject.
• Candidates having Education subject at H.S level are eligible to apply for Education as a General subject.
• Candidates securing 60% or above marks in Geography in H.S level are eligible to apply for Geography as a General elective subject. 50%of total seats in Geography General subject will be allotted for Honours students (except Geography honours) and 50%of total seats in Geography General subject will be allotted for students of General course.
