The establishment of a Girls’ College in Ekbalpur marks a positive and progressive initiative towards the provision of Higher Education for women. With a long history of pressing demands for a women’s College in the locality, the Government General Degree Girls College, Ekbalpur, was inaugurated on the 28th January, 2016 by Honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee. The Inauguration inevitably marked the start of the journey towards achieving academic excellence in the field of Higher Education for women. The College has its door open for the girl students. With Languages, Social Sciences and Science Departments, the Institution has started its march towards providing quality academic guidance to girl students for their all-round success. The College is located at 7, Muyurbhanj Road, Kolkata - 700023 and within the campus of Jnan Chandra Ghosh Polytechnic. Close to National Library, Calcutta University Alipur Campus, Kidderpore and other major locations of southern Kolkata, the college is well connected by road with Howrah, Hoogly, 24 Parganas(S) and other parts of Kolkata as well.
