Admission to Online Certificate Course on Vidyasagar: Bengali Literature and Culture, 2025

The nineteenth century holds immense significance in the history of Bengali literature, culture, and art. This century witnessed the emergence and development of Bengali prose—it was the age of the Renaissance. Among those who were true pioneers in shaping the intellect and character of the Bengali people during this time, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar stands out as a foremost figure. Braving the oppressive gaze of the British rulers, he emerged as the true teacher of the Bengali people. His thoughts on education, awareness of women's issues, social reform, and literary contributions enriched Bengali literature and culture. He laid the foundation for the future by bridging the East and the West.
This curriculum will serve as an effective aid in understanding both the nineteenth century and Vidyasagar. Our hope is that this course transcends the boundaries of time and place to become truly universal.

ELIGIBILITY:

• Higher secondary passed.

• No Course Fee
• Selected candidates shall pay the Admission Fee of Rs. 50.00 and the Examination Fee of 50.00 as and when directed.

• Six (6) months

• June, 2025

• Not more than 25 students on 'First Come, First Serve' basis if eligible.

• Classes will generally be held from 07:00 P.M. to 08:00 P.M.

• Written examination will be held at Vidyasagar Academy, Kolkata.

• The Certificate will be issued jointly by Presidency University and the Vidyasagar Academy, Kolkata.

• Application will be accepted through email mode only.
