Ramakrishna Mission Launches Self-Funded CBSE School in Jhargram, 400 Seats Available from April

The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission have launched their first self-funded school in Jhargram district that will follow the CBSE academic framework.

The newly constructed campus was formally inaugurated on Sunday by Swami Suvirananda, General Secretary of the Math and Mission.

Beginning in April, the institution will make 400 seats available for students in Classes V to VIII, with English as the language of instruction. According to Swami Vedapurushananda, who serves as principal and secretary, the school plans to gradually extend its offerings to the secondary and higher secondary levels.

School authorities have indicated through official communications and the prospectus that the academic programme aligns with the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. An application for formal affiliation will be submitted once the school meets the board’s requirement of following its curriculum for more than three years at the relevant level.

Swami Vedapurushananda previously headed Ramakrishna Mission institutions in Narendrapur and Purulia. He noted that this is the first Ramakrishna Mission school in West Bengal to adopt the CBSE curriculum at any stage.

The institution initially opened last year with 160 students enrolled in Classes I through IV. With the completion of the new building, each class will now operate with two sections starting from the upcoming academic session.

The inauguration ceremony marked the official opening of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith. The three-storey structure includes 16 classrooms, two laboratories, a computer facility, an elevator, ramps to support differently abled students, and other amenities. The campus has been developed on a 10-acre plot at an estimated cost of ₹7 crore.

Due to strong interest from applicants, admissions are being conducted through entrance assessments. The school also plans to introduce a Nursery section in the 2027–28 academic year, aiming to support students from their early years of education.

Although the institution operates without government funding, the management has stated that fees have been structured to remain affordable for families.
