Merit-based, Non-JRF seats, Fellowships & intake details for Ph.D. Admission 2025
Ph.D. Admissions Notification for the Academic Session 2025-2026
In continuation to the Notification dated 19th August, 2025 regarding Ph.D. Admissions – 2025-2026, the following policy is also notified with a view to fill the seats from the list of candidates falling under Block B (Category 2 + Category 3) and are eligible for Ph.D. admission (without Fellowship / JRF):
Admission Policy
- (a) For the purpose of drawing the Merit List, 70% weightage must be given to the scores obtained in the National Test and 30% weightage must be given to Interviews.
- (b) The above will be applicable for all candidates i.e. candidates from Block A (Category-1) and Block B (Category-2 and Category-3).
- (c) In each Phase, seats will first be filled from candidates of Block A.
- (d) In addition, the University offers fellowships to 16 + 1 *Non-JRF Seats* to candidates who qualified NET but do not have a fellowship/JRF as per Notification Ref. No. R.O./Non-NET/2021-22/300 dated 29.06.2021.

Additional Instructions
- (e) Every department where the annual intake of Ph.D. seats is more than 50 (Phase I and Phase II combined) must ensure to fill the above mentioned “Non-JRF Seats” through both the Phases. That is, the department must ensure to fill the 16+1* non-JRF seats on an annual basis.
- (f) Departments where the annual intake of Ph.D. seats is less than 50, will fill the Non-JRF seats proportionally to the intake categories in both the Phases.
Note: The department must ensure that the Non-JRF seats are filled according to the specified categories as per the admissions guidelines.
