Anti-Ragging Notification
This is for information of all concerned that Ragging is totally banned at Gauhati University.
As such, if anyone is found to be involved in ragging directly or indirectly, necessary stringent actions will be taken
including referring the matter to the Police. In this connection, the following are specifically mentioned.

Ragging is a punishable CRIMINAL OFFENCE as mandated by the
Hon’ble Supreme Court of India which may spoil the entire career of a student, if found guilty.

All students are also informed to visit the anti-ragging website of the UGC and know about what is ragging and the
remedies that are mentioned there.

All newly admitted students are to submit the online anti-ragging affidavit as notified in the
Admission Notification at the time of publishing the merit/rank list and the PDF copy of the same be submitted to the
concerned Heads of the Academic Departments within 3 September 2025, if not done till now.
All Heads of the Academic Departments are requested to ensure that this is done within the stipulated time.

For any kind of ragging and indiscipline, the students (both Hostellers and Non-Hostellers) are strongly advised to
write to us at hostel_griev@gauhati.ac.in. However, to
make effective intervention, while a complaint is lodged, the name of the offenders must be mentioned.
But the complainant can hide his/her identity.
