  • PGDM (Human Resource Management)

    The two year Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (Human Resource Management) aims at preparing young men and women to face challenges in the domain of Human Resource Management.

    Apart from the fundamental theoretical inputs in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations and Human Resource Development, the programme seeks to equip students with practical knowledge and requisite skills to be effective in their profession. Stress is laid on the development of dynamic personality by nurturing in the students, values and attitudes built on the firm edifice of keen social-awareness.
  • PGDM (Rural Management)

    Rural Management has inevitably became a distinct profession. Development of rural masses is a composite concern and a movement to be operationalized under extremely diverse milieu; this course prepares the students to meet the challenges posed by the profession and moulds them into change agents-facilitators in the process of development.
  • PGDM (Information Technology)

    Information is considered to be the sixth most vital resource of productivity. In the last few years, Information systems have been found to play a pivotal role in the formulation and implementation of corporate strategies. Information Technology has revolutionized the management today. This has made it imperative for future managers to comprehend information systems thoroughly.
  • PGDM (Finance)

    Factors such as globalization, deregulation, mergers and acquisitions, competition and technological innovations have forced companies to rethink their business strategy. In today’s ever-changing business environment, finance executives are exploring ways in which the financial function can bring greater value to their organizations. Finance executives today need to think beyond the traditional financial information contained in general ledger system and consider how best to provide for the comprehensive measures and analytical methods needed to drive decisions throughout complex and dynamic companies.

    To serve the needs of the changing horizons in financial dynamism in the industry, the course Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Finance) helps to have intricate knowledge of finance, accounting, taxes/tax structures and the relations of all these aspects on overall business dynamics of complex Industries.
  • PGDM (Marketing)

    The focus of this course is to develop future managers with the right combination of knowledge, skills and practical orientation in order to equip themselves with the right vision of a world class manager. Since its inception the focus of the PGDM course is the use of pedagogy that is oriented towards decision making. The integrated learning takes internship, classroom lectures and class discussion.

    The department lays emphasis on case based teaching pedagogy. The case method is the foundation of the department’s dynamic curriculum and the primary way to bring complex realities of business into the classroom. The department believes that the students, immersed in this active hands-on learning environment gain knowledge and experience, which they may never otherwise obtain in a typical lecture type setting.

ADMISSION INFORMATION

Candidates are required to apply separately to the institute with their required course preferences as soon as the registration process for admission begins, which will be mentioned on the college website. Applications can be submitted online. XISS requires applicants to obtain the adequate cut-off score (as set by the institute) in one of the tests approved by the institute like the XAT conducted by XLRI or CAT conducted by IIMs or CMAT conducted by AICTE. The cut-off scores may vary for different exams. The candidates obtaining the cut-off score will be shortlisted for the subsequent Group Discussion-Personal Interview (GD-PI) held across various places in India. Based on their performance in both the test and (GD-PI) the institute releases the list of the selected candidates on its website.

Library

The Institute has a well stocked library with treasure of books. It has over 45000 volumes of books. Along with the books there are Journals, Encyclopedias, Almanacs and Magazines. The library subscribes to more than 150 periodicals. Moreover, XISS library is also equipped with e-library facilities. the library provides CAS (current Awareness Service) through Indexing Services and new Arrival List, both of which are computerized.

Auditorium

The Institute’s air-conditioned auditorium is housed in its main building. It is well furnished with a seating capacity of 300 which is extensively used for hosting seminars, cultural and other functions.

IT Infrastructure

In this IT dominated era, the Institute has a state of the art Computer Lab and resource center. In the competitive and challenging corporate arena the institute’s IT Lab hosts a range of latest software together with the LAN facility with over 90 terminals and the necessary hardware support to synchronize with the IT needs.

Wire Less Fidelity

The wi-fi enabled campus sets the tune for 24 X 7 global connectivity which helps students in their college assignments & research projects.

Conference rooms & Class rooms

The Institute has a number of state-of- the-art conference rooms. the classrooms are multimedia aided and are designed to facilitate effective interaction.

Playground

The Institute has its own playground and basketball court which the students use extensively to let off the strain of a very demanding student life at XISS. Sports provide a break from the rigour of intensive study and help the students to be in good shape.

Hostel, Guest House & Canteen

The Institute has well-furnished Hostels for boys and girls and Faculty Quarters in a separate campus of its own which is at a walking distance from the main premises. The Institute also has a Guest house, which can accommodate 30 participants for various Management Development Programmes and two separate canteens for students and MDP trainees.

Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS) is a Jesuit-run business school in Ranchi, India. It was established as an extension department of St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, in 1955 by Fr. Michael A. Windey, S.J. with the objective of training young men and women in Rural Development, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. In 1963, Fr. Micheal Van Den Bogaert, S.J. was appointed as the director of XISS and rendered his service to the institute for 23 years. In 1973 the institute was registered as a separate educational society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. In 1978, it moved to its present site.

XISS is governed by a governing body headed by a chairman from the Ranchi Jesuit Society. The governing body is supported by an academic advisory council of senior faculty and directors. As of 2014, it is ranked 55th overall among the business schools in India by Business Today. In the Times Group B-School survey 2015, Xavier Institute of Social Service is ranked 80th overall among the business schools in India.
