The state higher secondary council will permit a candidate who does not achieve a 30 per cent score (passing marks) in a paper during one semester to take a supplementary test alongside the papers of the following semester to address any backlog.
For instance, a student who fails to achieve the required 30 per cent score in a paper during the first semester will have the opportunity to take a supplementary test alongside the papers of the second semester.
“A student who will fail to obtain the pass marks in a paper in the first semester will get a chance to write a supplementary test in the second semester to clear the paper in which he or she has failed. The schools assigned to conduct first and second-semester examinations, will make arrangements to hold the supplementary examination along with the second semester,” stated Priyadarshini Mallick, the secretary of the council
In the first semester, students will undergo assessments comprising multiple-choice questions, while the second semester will include examinations featuring short-answer and descriptive questions.
This pattern will extend to the third and fourth semesters, with examinations administered by the council. Next week, the council will unveil examination regulations outlining pass mark details and the supplementary system.
For lab-based subjects, students must complete a 35-mark theory paper each semester. In non-lab subjects, papers will consist of 40 marks per semester.
According to a council official, students must achieve a minimum score of 10.05 in theory papers for lab-based subjects in each semester. Pass marks for non-lab-based papers will be set at 12.
Should a student not achieve a score of 10.05 in a theory paper during the first semester, they must attain the same score in the supplementary examination, which will align with the second semester.
