PRESIDENCY UNIVERSITY
Admission Notification to the First Semester B.A./B.Sc. classes for the session 2014-2015.


The candidates who have passed not before 2013, with the requisite marks as mentioned in the Eligibility Criteria, the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or an equivalent examination (including international boards) with at least five recognised subjects including English language (full marks not less than 100), candidates with three subjects at ‘O’ level and two subjects at ‘A’ level with English in either of the two levels of the University of Cambridge international Examination and candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma will be eligible to appear in the admission test for admission to the three year B.A./B.Sc. Honours Course.

For CIE or other international boards the median value of the grade interval will be considered as marks obtained. The candidates of ‘A’ level examination of CIE with forecast grades may also apply, and if selected will be offered provisional admission, which will be regularized after submission of the final result, failing which the admission will be cancelled.


Admission Procedure
A candidate will be allowed to apply for at most three Honours subjects (excluding English and Mathematics). The candidates, who will apply for English or Mathematics, may apply for only one more subject. Eligible candidates, who will apply for admission, will have to appear for an Admission Test for each Honours subject. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate of the percentage of aggregate (of top four subjects) marks obtained in the last public examination and the marks obtained in the respective admission test. A candidate has to secure at least 20 marks or 40% of the highest marks, whichever is higher, in the admission test, failing which the candidate will be disqualified for admission. The SC/ST and the OBCA/OBCB candidates will have to secure 75% and 90% of the total marks obtained by the last general candidate respectively, otherwise they will not be considered for admission from reserved quota (vide Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India Notification No. BC. 16014/1/82-SC&BCD.I dated 6th August 1984 and Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal Notification No. 07-Edn(U)/1U-89/13). The SC/ST and OBCA/OBCB candidates coming in the first merit list will be considered equivalent to candidates of general category and will not occupy the reserved quota. The final admission will be offered strictly on merit, according to the position in the merit list. Candidates qualified for more than one subject will be allowed to express their choice during counselling session on the date of admission. The admission for a particular Honours subject will be completed on one and the same day through this process of counselling.

Attendance of students admitted to First year class will be checked every week after the commencement of their classes. The names of students who will fail to attend 60 per cent of the classes (theoretical and practical separately) held during the said period will be struck off from the roll of the University without any intimation. The seats falling vacant thereof will be filled up by the next deserving candidate from the selection list through counselling.


Submission of application for admission
The candidate will have to submit the application online at www.presidencyadmission.net. Separate application is to be submitted for each Honours subject. After receiving the admit card cum application fee receipt on submission of application, the candidate will have to deposit the application fee of Rs. 100.00 per application to any of the listed branches of Axis Bank. Model question paper for admission test will be available on the website.
