Admission Information for B.Tech. courses :

The col­lege func­tions under the self-​financing scheme and selec­tion of the stu­dents are based on their ranks in the entrance test con­ducted by the Con­troller of Entrance Exam­i­na­tions, Govt. of Ker­ala. Since the col­lege is a self financ­ing col­lege which comes under the con­trol of the gov­ern­ment, the pro­ce­dure adopted for admis­sion dur­ing each year varies accord­ing to the deci­sion taken by the gov­ern­ment in this regard from time to time.

Stu­dents are also admit­ted under fee waiver scheme as per the Govt. norms. The admis­sion for both the merit quota and man­age­ment quota is purely based on the per­for­mance in the Com­mon Entrance Exam­i­na­tion con­ducted in the State. The stu­dents will be allot­ted to dif­fer­ent branches based on their rank in the entrance exam­i­na­tion and their pref­er­ences. The dif­fer­ence between the merit quota and man­age­ment quota is in the amount of fees that has to be paid by the can­di­dates. 15% of the seats are reserved for NRI; the admis­sion is based on the merit in the qual­i­fy­ing examination.


Eligibility for Admission to M.Tech. courses :

  • The candidates must be an Indian Citizen.
  • The candidates should have studied the Graduate course in an institution approved by the AICTE/​Deemed Universities.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of first class marks in the Engineering Degree examination.

    For SC/​ST can­di­dates pass mark in the Engi­neer­ing Degree course is sufficient.

    For SEBC stu­dents a min­i­mum of 54% aggre­gate marks in Engi­neer­ing Degree exam is mandatory.

  • Candidates, who have passed AMIE/​AMIETE Examinations and satisfying the following conditions, are eligible for admission
    • They must have valid GATE score.
    • A min­i­mum of 55% marks for sec­tion B in AMIE/​AMIETE examination.
    • Minimum three years of Professional experience in the field of Specialization after acquiring the qualifying degree.
  • Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also apply, provided she has passed all the subjects up to and including the Sixth semester exam. Such candidates shall submit attested copies of all mark sheets up to Sixth semester along with the application. Selection of such candidates shall be subject to the production of qualifying degree satisfying clauses 3.1 (a) to © as applicable on or before September 30, 2013.

    Selection procedure in different categories of M Tech seats are as follows:

    1 Merit Quota (75% seats of total approved intake of each course) On the basis of the rank list published by DTE for M Tech admis­sion 2013.

    In case seats remain vacant due to lack of sufficient candidates, applicants with valid GATE score will be considered on the basis of GATE score.

    In case of tie, advantage will be given to the applicants who secure highest aggregate marks up to and including pre final year exam in their qualifying examination.

    If seats are still remain­ing vacant, applicants from Kerala without valid gate score will be selected based on the aggregate marks up to and including pre final year exam of their qualifying examination.

    Even if seats are still remaining vacant, candidates from other states will be considered for admission.
    2 Sponsored Quota (25% seats of total approved intake of each course out of which 1 seat in each course is reserved for eligible applicants from LBS Engineering Colleges.) On the basis of Qualifying Examination marks and experience in the ratio 8:2.

    For Sponsored candidates, minimum of 2 years Experience is required. 4 marks will be granted for each additional year of experience limited to a maximum of 20 marks.

    In case of tie, advantage will be given to the applicants with more experience.

    In the absence of sufficient applications in sponsored quota, the vacant seats will be converted to open merit seats and selection will be done accordingly.

Distribution of Seats :

  • 75% seats of the approved intake of each M Tech Programme will be filled up from open merit by observing the reservation policies of Government /​ University.
  • 25% seats of the approved intake of each M Tech Programme are reserved for eligible candidates from Educational /​ Research institutions approved by AICTE/​ UGC/​ Govt/​ Universities or Industry out of which one seat is reserved for eligible candidates from Engineering colleges under LBS centre for Science and Technology.

Library

CENTRAL LIBRARY

The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. The library is spread over 6400sq ft and has a seating capacity for 150 students. The library has an excellent collection of books, journals and non-​book materials in Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Social science and Management and History. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Standard, Bound volumes of Journals, Technical Reports, Project Reports, Seminar reports, Previous question papers, CD-​ROMs, DVDs, Periodicals, etc. At present, the library has a collection of around 7880 titles and 16,607 volumes of books and Reference materials. Besides standard text­books, the library contains books of literature and general interest.

The College has also subscribed to E– journals. A large number of international journals, conference proceedings and technical documents are made available to the students through this facility. Digital library access is enabled mainly through the Central Computing Facility.

Central Computing Facility

The Central Computing Facility (CCF) forms an important component of the Institute’s infrastructure, providing a wide spectrum of services to the students as well as faculty and staff involved in research and other academic activities. The ultimate aim of the centre is to provide professional services, promote and assist the use of new computing technology among the students, staff and administration. The centre is not only a work­station for the students to sharpen their computer skills, but also is a hub of guidance & support for the students taking up projects in the software field. The CCF is open for extensive hours, including evenings

Transport

Our college is providing transport facility to our students covering all main points in Thiruvananthapuram city. Every year a good portion of the students are utilizing the bus facility. Our bus provides transportation between City and College on week days for students, faculty and staff only .The expenditure of operating the bus is currently borne by the PTA.

Co-​Operative Society

Co-​operative society “LBSITW Employees Co​-operative Society Ltd. T-​1725″ was established in 2001 and is functioning in the Ground Floor of the Main building. Co-operative Society caters to the needs of the students and staff of this College. The society operates a consumer store to supply text books, note books, drawings instruments, surveying instruments, uniform materials, Syllabus, Lab Records, Various forms, Register and Other stationery articles, bakery items and soft drinks at discount rates. The Society also offers different deposit schemes, loan schemes and MDS Chittis for the permanent employees of the college.

LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram, started functioning in 2001, is the first women engineering college in the state, managed by LBS Centre for Science and Technology (LBSCST), Thiruvananthapuram. LBSCST, the premier institution of computer training/ consultancy, was established by the Government of Kerala in 1976. The Centre is administered by a governing body and an executive committee. The Honourable Chief Minister is the Chairman of the governing body and the honorable minister for Education is the Vice-​Chairman. LBSITW is the only engineering college for women in the Government sector in the state of Kerala. The Institute offers B.Tech programs in Electronics and Communication, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology & Civil Engineering and M.Tech programs in Signal Processing and Computer Science and Engineering.
