Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

Launched in 1995, approved by AICTE and accredited by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and SAQS, the 2 year full time flagship "Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Programme with cutting edge subjects in public enterprises, banking, entrepreneurship,international business, business analytics,etc is designed to equip students to meet the industry challenges and become global leaders and entrepreneurs.

PGDM - Retail & Marketing

Marketing professionals are always needed by companies belonging to various industries ranging from Manufacturing, FMCG Sector, Electronics, Electrical, IT and also Service industries such as Banking, Insurance, Finance, and Hospitality etc. PGDM-RM was started in response to the needs of the industry. It is approved by AICTE, accredited by SAQS, and considered as equivalent to MBA by Association of Indian Universities (AIU). PGDM-RM course is well accepted by the industry and has attracted high paying recruiters.

PGDM - Banking, Insurance & Financial Services

The Banking, Insurance and Financial Services sector today is characterized by globalization, consolidation and convergence. In this scenario, innovation is a major driving force for achieving competitive advantage through creation of new business opportunities. Hence, IPE has designed a specialized course in this direction.

PGDM - International Business

The PGDM - International Business programme is a cutting edge MBA programme with state-of-the-art curriculum with subjects like International Business Strategy, International Financial Markets & Instruments, Global marketing, etc. The programme provides for an optional study tour abroad and a port visit.

PGDM - Human Resource Management

This program is envisaged as the highest quality program in the area of human resource management as it is proactively designed to provide eligible, suitable, and competent Human Relations (HR) professionals with sufficient knowledge of business to all industrial sectors.

Executive PGDM

The Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Exec. PGDM) is a 15 month full time program approved by AICTE. Exe. PGDM programme is specially designed for working executives and managers with potential for top management positions to enhance their education to enable fast-track growth and to augment their real time experience.


The broad objective of the M.B.A. (P.E.) is to develop managerial skills in practicing executives in both central and state government who have varied educational background and work experience in both Central and State Government, autonomous agencies, public sector enterprises, private sector, joint venture, co-operatives etc. The programme is specifically designed to enable the practicing executives:

Library and Documentation Centre

The library is the main resource centre of the Institute, providing a conducive environment for learning. It provides excellent facilities to the students and faculty for their research, studies, training and consultancy activities. The library has a collection of over 50,000 books covering various areas of Management, Public Enterprises, Information Technology, Economics, Indian Management Thought, Psychology, Autobiographies, Biographies, etc. The library get over 200 International / National Journals and Indian Business Magazines besides Newspapers. The library has a large collection of Statistical data and Annual Reports of Central and State Level Public Enterprises, Project Reports submitted by the students, faculty and research scholars and back volumes of journals and pamphlets. It has an Audio Visual Centre equipped with audio and video cassettes/CDs on Management, Information Technology and Communications. The library subscribes to online databases such as EBSCO, IBID, Emerald Xtra-Management,, JSTOR and CMIE Prowess. It is in the process of digitizing the whole library.

IT Facilities

The IPE has state-of-the-art Information Technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the Institute. IPE has a fast, reliable and rugged computer network of more than 300 Nodes. This network has Gigabit fiber backbone connectivity to all the blocks and departments. The Institute provides internet facility through leased line of 40 Mbps (1:1) for fast, reliable and uninterrupted internet services. The entire IPE campus has been Wi-Fi enabled providing 24x7x365 internet access to its students and employees.

The Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad established in 1964, the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE) was set-up as an autonomous non-profit society at the initiative of Mr SS Khera, ICS (the then Cabinet Secretary, Government of India) and Dr DS Reddy (the then Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University) with the objective of furthering studies, research and consultancy in Management Sciences. Dr VV Ramanadham, the then Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, Osmania University, with the active support and guidance provided by Dr DS Reddy, translated Mr Khera’s concept into a reality. Shri K Madhava Rao, I.A.S (Retd.), President, IPE, had an accomplishment filled tenure as the then Chief Secretary of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr P Rama Rao, a distinguished scientist, former President of the institute, was formerly Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India; Secretary, Department of Ocean Development, Government of India; Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board and former Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad.

He has recently been appointed a Member of the Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India. He brings with him varied and rich experience to guide the destination of IPE committed to excellence, be it in management education, consultancy, research and training.

IPE is partly funded by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
