POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT - BANKING & FINANCIAL SERVICES (BKFS)

The PGDM-Banking and Financial Services offered by TAPMI is a two year full time and residential post graduate program. The Trimester based programme caters to the needs of the vast and fast growing financial services with focus on financial markets.

In the recent years, there have been global recessions in major economies. However, there were cheers in South Asia, particularly in India where the robust and clean financial system that was in place, helped to prevent any kind of wrongdoing from showing up, especially in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector, all of which have been expanding to reach the full potential.



PH.D. PROGRAMME

The T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal invites applications for admission to a fulltime Ph. D. programme, from candidates who possess a strong inclination for rigorous academic study and intend to pursue an academic career after completing the programme.

The doctoral programme offers an opportunity to conduct high-quality management research in a scholarly environment set in the scenic and quiet university town of Manipal. The doctoral scholar will conduct research in close collaboration with one or more faculty guide(s) and fellow scholars, leading to publications in top academic journals.

TAPMI, Manipal, is recognized as a research center of Manipal University. The doctoral degree will be awarded by Manipal University, upon successful completion of all requirements of the programme.

Potential research areas include all topics spanning business and management such as Decision Theory, Entrepreneurship, Economics and Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain, Organization Theory, Organizational Behaviour, Strategy, General Management and any other allied management area.

TAPMI strongly encourages interdisciplinary work that leads to new insights and theory.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

PGDM and PGDM – BKFS

A Graduate Degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in any discipline, recognised by the AIU as eligible for Post-Graduation, with not less than 50% overall aggregate marks. This applies to also those with professional qualifications like Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accounting and Company Secretary. Candidates appearing for Final Year Degree examination may also apply. However such candidates, if selected by TAPMI, are required to produce proof of completion of graduation by the time they join the PGDM Programmes and submit their mark-lists and other testimonials within the stipulated date.

PGDM – Healthcare

A Graduate Degree (10+2+3 or 10+2+4) in medical / para-medical / pharma, recognised by the AIU as eligible for Post-Graduation, with not less than 50% overall aggregate marks. Final year students may also apply.



ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

TAPMI adopts a two stage process for admitting candidates to its PGDM Programmes. Valid CAT/XAT/GMAT scores are mandatory pre-requisites to qualify for the admission process consisting of WAT / Personal Interviews or other evaluation components the Institute deems fit.

Based on profiles of the applicants’ i.e., high scores in CAT/XAT/GMAT and academic excellence, work experience, extra-curricular and clarity of purpose, candidates are short-listed and invited to participate in the subsequent TAPMI Admissions Process. Final Selection will be based on overall performance in the TAPMI Admissions Process.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Healthcare (HCM)

TAPMI has adopted a two stage process for admitting candidates to the PGDM - Healthcare Programme. Valid CAT/XAT/GMAT/MAT scores are mandatory pre-requisites to qualify for the admission process consisting of WAT / Personal Interviews or other evaluation components the Institute deems fit.

Based on high scores in CAT/XAT/GMAT/MAT and good profile with academic excellence, work experience, extra-curricular and clarity of purpose, candidates are short-listed and invited to participate in the subsequent TAPMI Admissions Process.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BKFS)

The procedure is similar to that for the PGDM programme above. However, the interview process for the BKFS applicants are designed to test their appreciation of Financial Markets, Banking System and developments in the Financial Services world. Familiarity with Calculus, Probability and Matrix (Class XII Level) is also expected from the students.

CLASS ROOMS

TAPMI’s new facility has classrooms with seating capacities ranging from 60 students to 90 students. The classrooms are all air conditioned and specially designed for interactive participation, with executive-style seating and furniture. Although the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, they are equipped with a LAN port for cable-enabled internet access. Each classroom is also equipped with projector facility to enable presentations, and video-based and audio-based sessions. Some of the classrooms also provide video-conferencing facilities.

SEMINAR HALL/CONFERENCE ROOM

The new facility has Board room, Conference rooms and Video Conferencing Facilities in the Campus. There are seminar halls that can seat up to 250 persons. They are also equipped with Audio- Visual Equipment’s.

LIBRARY

The library is housed in a centrally air-conditioned three floored independent building having plinth area of about 12,500 sq. ft. with a seating capacity of 120 users. It is open for long hours on working days and open on Sundays too. It has a rich collection of Print and electronic resources. The print collection includes Books, periodicals, Project reports, working papers, National/ International journals and Annual reports of major limited companies.

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

TAPMI firmly believes in the maximal use and full leveraging of Information and Communication Technology in all spheres of its activities. Faculty and students are actively encouraged to use state of the art technologies in teaching, learning, research, and allied academic endeavours. To facilitate this, TAPMI has built a world class ICT infrastructure comprising of high quality hardware, software and communication systems, over the past decade.

The institute provides very premium configuration along with LAN connections (both wired and wireless), in addition to 24/7 Internet connectivity. These computers are networked via high-end blade servers and managed switches. In addition to the laptop hardware, data loss prevention software has been provided. Anti-virus, port locker, permanent file eraser, PC reporter (asset tagging, tracking and early warning locate laptop) and other database software packages with all advanced features are equipped in the laptop.

FINANCE LAB

A world-class Finance Lab, in association with Bloomberg India, was launched at TAPMI. The trading lab is equipped with 16 Bloomberg terminals and supported by data feed from BSE and NSE. It gives students hands-on experience in Investments and Portfolio Management, Forecasting, Risk Management, and understanding of Global Financial Management. This lab provide students the knowledge and insight into real market situations while bridging the gap between financial theory and practice.

CANTEEN / MESS

A bright, spacious hall overlooking the valley houses TAPMI’s multi-cuisine canteen, at the Students center that provides students, faculty and staff with nutritious food for the body and the mind,

The canteen counter is open from 8.00 am to 9.30 pm daily and provides a variety of snacks and refreshments at nominal prices. The mess, primarily catering to the students in residence, operates at fixed timings and provides Breakfast: 7.30 am – 9.30 am; Lunch: 12.00 noon – 2.00 pm; Tea/snacks: 4.30 pm – 6.00 pm and Dinner: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm.

HOSTEL

TAPMI’s new campus has 5 hostel blocks, exclusive for men and women. The hostels have been designed keeping in mind the students’ requirements for rigorous study accompanied by soothing relaxation. Each room has an attached bathroom and 24-hour hot water facility supported by solar heating. All the hostels have lifts, back-up power and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.

There are separate hostels for men and women. These hostels have double rooms and single rooms with air condition facility. The capacities of the hostels are adequate for accommodating the students and a few rooms have also been converted to accommodate guests.

TELEPHONES

All faculty members and staff are provided with Individual landline connection with STD facility. The hostels are also connected by phone connection, that is being provided through BSNL and all the internal calls are free.

LAUNDRY

TAPMI has an integrated laundry service provider in the campus. The campus services include washing, drying and ironing and dry-cleaning services for Students, Faculty and Staff. The hostels also are provided with automatic washing machines and several iron boards and irons. The facility is manned by skilled employees under a supervisor.

MEDICARE FACILITY

TAPMI provides Medicare facility to all the students under the Kasturba Hospital (Manipal Hospitals). The campus is equipped with First Aid kits.

CONVENIENCE STORE

The campus has a convenience store at the student center where items of daily needs and snacks, refreshments and other necessary items are sold.

AIR CONDITIONED CAMPUS

Both the Academic Block (classrooms, library, faculty rooms, gymnasium etc.) and the entire Student centre (student rooms, common rooms, dining halls etc.) are centrally air-conditioned. The bathrooms in students housing are also fitted with geysers for hot waters in winters.

SECURITY ON CAMPUS

The whole campus is fenced and is guarded by security guards all the time and has CCTV at important junctions. The guards are also placed on all important locations and access points inside the campus. Institute has Warden/Asst. Warden in the campus.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

The Institute has contract with a facility management service providers for housekeeping and other services in campus. This ensures that the TAPMI is kept hygienic and clean round the clock.

BANK / ATM

Syndicate Bank has set up its Extension counter and an ATM in the campus. This ATM is captive in nature and is prohibited to outsiders. This way, Institute has maintained its exclusivity in provision of services to students, faculty and staff.

AUDIO / VIDEO SYSTEMS

The Institute is equipped with all modern technologies in its classrooms for audio and video systems. All classrooms are equipped with speakers, collar microphones for Faculty, Laptops, White Boards and projector with screen.

The public lecture halls are equipped with a high fidelity video screen, speakers and microphones. The Institute has Video Conferencing feature.

The T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) located in the international university town of Manipal (Karnataka), is among the leading management institutes in India, and is reputed for its academic rigour and faculty-student interaction. Founded by the visionary, Late Shri. T. A. Pai, TAPMI’s mission is to provide much needed impetus to the task of building professional management capability in the country. Since commencement of the PG Programme in 1984, TAPMI has received recognition and respect amongst the well-known industrial houses and academic institutions in India for the quality of its education. In early 2009, its 25th year running, TAPMI took a landmark step in its history by shifting its operations to a new scenic 42-acre residential campus in Manipal. Located on the side of a hillock and overlooking a valley filled with verdant tropical greenery, this campus provides an ideal setting for serious academic study and creativity, combined with entertainment and relaxation.

The new facility, which was developed at a cost of about Rs. 60 crores (US $ 12 million) includes a built up area of 3,20,000 sq. ft. to house modern, state-of-the-art, Wi-Fi-enabled, air-conditioned classrooms for students, plush offices for faculty and staff, a knowledge centre, a computer centre, a student’s centre, hostels for men and women, and residences for faculty and staff. The student’s centre is home to a canteen, a gym, a yoga and meditation room, an mini open-air theatre and a convenience store.

Manipal is home to a large number of educational institutes for medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, arts and science, engineering and technology and is known for its cosmopolitan ambience. The town is also known for its innovative development banking and financial services sector. The legendary pilgrimage town of Udupi is just a 15 minute drive from Manipal.
