Admission Procedure

The students who have passed HigherSecondary (10+2) Examination of the West Bengal Council of Higher SecondaryEducation, or any equivalent examination of any recognized Central/StateBoard/University having minimum aggregate marks as per the directive of theState Government issued from time to time have to qualify any of the followingAdmission Test with a valid rank.

For admission of students inB Tech courses in any Government Engineering Colleges and Self Financing PrivateEngineering Colleges of West Bengal, a centralized single-window seat-selection process by the Central Selection Committee (E & T) isfollowed. 80% seats of the totalapproved intake are filled up from the JEM-E & T qualified candidates and10% seats are allocated to the AIEEE qualified candidates through CentralCounselling. The remaining 10% seats arefilled up through Management Quota as per the directives of the StateGovernment.

Diploma holders in Engineering/Technology from AICTEapproved Institutions and B.Sc. Degreeholders from UGC approved University with Mathematics as one of the combinationsubjects in the Graduation Level are eligible for admission into the thirdsemester (2nd year) of 4-year Degree Level Engineering andTechnology Courses on qualifying an Entrance Test (West Bengal Joint EntranceExamination for Lateral Entry (JELET)) through the some centralizedsingle-window seat-selection process by the Central Selection Committee(E&T). The number of seats is 10% ofthe approved intake in 1st Year Level in any Branch ofEngineering/Technology tentatively. However, seats may increase based on drop-out vacancies at 1stYear Level. 10% Management Quota will bethere for admission under Lateral Entry Scheme as per the directives of theState Government.

Documents to be submitted at the time of Admission to B.Tech.

• Original Provisional Allotment Certificate along with the original money receipt issued by WBJEE Board against the admission and associated fees of Rs 40,000 for general and SC category (Rs 4,000 of TFW category) deposited at Reporting Centre. (Candidate should retain the Xerox copy of the same for future reference).
• Xeroxed copy of Caste Certificate (For SC candidate only)
• Original WBJEE and/or AIEEE-2012 Admit Card & Rank details for JEM and/or AIEEE-2012
• 10th level or equivalent admit card
• 10th level or equivalent mark sheet
• 12th level or equivalent mark sheet
• Medical certificate regarding physical fitness and Eye certificate regarding no colour blindness from a registered medical practitioner(s).
• Xeroxed copy of Blood Group Certificate
• 6 (Six) passport size colour photographs
• 10 self-addressed envelope each with Rs.5/- postal stamp affixed

  The central library of DIET is the 'heart' of the institution. It plays an important role in all academic activities. This institute is a member of DELNET, for online documents. Library subscribes a good number of National / International Journals in the field of Engineering & Technology and Management. Apart from journals, the library houses a collection of nearly 21500 national and international books and other reference materials. DIET provides a spacious, comfortable and peaceful reading area.

  The Language Laboratory at DIET is state of art facility where students receive sophisticated training for improving their English language communication skills including accent, syntax and phonetics. The facility provides access to installed and portable equipment to be used with audio, video and multimedia language learning tools. It is fully computerised and software enabled.
• »  Sports and games facility
  Health and fitness are essential to living a purposeful life of students that DIET aims at. There is a large playground adjacent to the college campus which is ideal for various outdoor games including football and cricket. The Institute has common rooms (separately for boys and girls) equipped with indoor games facilities like Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Chinese Checker, Snakes & Ladders, Ludo etc.

  The Gymnasium with varied equipments, including treadmill, rowing machines, free weights etc at the campus is a state of art facility helping the students to maintain their fitness levels. The Gymnasium is open in the morning, afternoon and early evening.

  The College has state of art laboratories, seminar halls, graphic halls and well equipped workshops facilities with most modern advanced equipments as per AICTE and WBUT norms. The aim is to provide students a conceptual as well as practical understanding of the subject through hands-on training most efficiently and effectively.

  DIET has a full-fledged; state of art hi-speed Internet enabled Computer Centre. Students can use this for various purposes, viz., Programming, Project work, Preparation of seminar materials, internet surfing etc.

  There is an ATM (SBI) within the campus for the convenience of students and staff.
• »  Bank and Post office
  A Branch of Bank of Baroda (Basantapur branch, Branch code BASMUR, IFSC BARB0BASMUR) near the campus takes care of the banking requirements of students and staff. Also, there is a post office adjacent to the campus.

  As per stipulations of the West Bengal Fire Fighting Services Act, fire fighting cylinders have been provided in each of the college building.
• »  Backup electric supply In-Campus and Hostels
  The campus and hostels has its own diesel generator setups in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

  The Institute has an excellent cafeteria with a well-planned hygienic kitchen. It caters to the need of students as well as staff and visitors. It provides a variety of hygienic and nutritious food including fast foods, lunch and snacks at administered prices.
