Admission Procedure of Undergraduate Courses:

Minimum qualification for admission to the above programs is 10+2 passed out candidates from Science stream from any recognized Central/State Board of Higher Education from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh. All 10+2 passed candidates may be enrolled for admission after submitting the application form duly filled in. Applicants who are awaiting their 10+2 results may also apply.


Admission Procedure of Postgraduate Courses:

The main target group is that of graduates in the life sciences or physical sciences who wish to pursue a career in genetics and biotechnology either in industry or academia. The program may also be suitable for those with a background in Btech Biotechnology who have a strong interest in higher studies. (see details in www. ige-india.com)


Norms of Admission:

The admission subcommittee formulated rules for admission following the guideline of the WBUT. The admission of the S.C / S.T candidates is regulated by Govt. norms. Special consideration in admission may be made to those students having outstanding performance in games and sports.


Procedure:

  • The forms will be supplied only on production of the original mark sheet.
  • Following documents are to be submitted along with the duly filled application form.
  • Xerox copies (attested by the head of the institute previously attended) of mark sheet and admit card of the examination passed.
  • Admit card / Certificate of Madhyamik/ Equivalent Examination.
  • Five copies of recent passport size photo.
  • SC/ST Certificate should be furnished provide it is issued by appropriate authority as per the memo No. 2143 BCW dt. Kolkata 23 June, 2004, MR-154/03(I)
  • No application form will be accepted without the documents supplied in the right order.
  • The last date for the submission of the admission form should be rigidly maintained.
  • On the date of admission all documents should be produced.
  • All admissions are provisional.

Change of subject:

Students are advised to select their course of study and subject with sufficient care. Change of subject is allowed only once and that only within one month from the date of admission or within the date of admission or within the date of notified.


Registration and Migration:

Students coming from states outside India and other University for PG course, if admitted, must Submit a Migration Certificate within 15 days of admission.
Students joining the college classes are required to get their names registered with the university for the validation of their admission. Immediately after admission they must, for this purpose, filled in the prescribed forms(available at the college office) and submit the necessary documents along with scheduled registration fees.
The director has the authority to reject any incomplete or disputed application for admission

Set up by Biotech Foundation, a trust for promoting Education, Training and Research in Genetic and Biotechnology. Institute of Genetic Engineering (IGE) established in 2003, to ensure quality teaching and research in Genetics and Biotechnology.

The department of Genetics, Microbiology and Biotechnology was established in 2003 with a view to develop a Centre of Excellence in Education and Research in Genetics and Biotechnology in West Bengal. Initially, it was started with UG courses (B. Sc. Hons) in Biotechnology and Microbiology was affiliated with University of Kalyani in 2003 and then Genetics and Molecular Biology was added under the same University in the year, 2004. In the year 2006 this Institute joined WBUT and added PG course in Genetic Engineering along with above UG courses.

Five batches have passed out with excellent grades and joined / placed in PG courses in various Universities in India and Abroad (see www.ige-india.com) Some of our students has ranked in local Universities like WBUT, University of Kalyani and Pune University.
