Bachelor of Physiotherapy :

An Undergraduate in Physiotherapy is to impart in depth knowledge and skill to a student to become competent in the physical diagnosis techniques and develop the proper attitude for the practice of Physiotherapy and carry out treatment.

• Acquire adequate knowledge of the basic medical subjects in the Practice of physiotherapy.
• Develops skills and techniques of therapeutic massage and exercises for the management of various medical and surgical conditions.
• Develops proper attitude for compassion and concern for the individuals and welfare physically handicapped in the community.
• Demonstrates skill in teaching, management, research, guidance and counseling.

Master of Physiotherapy :

M.P.T. (2 Years full time)

Under the guidance of World Confederation of Physiotherapy, The Indian Association of Physiotherapists aims to streamline the standard of physiotherapy education in our Country. One of the aims is to offer higher education to the graduates of physiotherapy. Based on these, on postgraduate education will be able to meet the challenging needs of the Health Services provision as well as physiotherapy education in India. At BIMLS, we offer Master in Physiotherapy in three specialties.

At the end of the completion of Master of Physiotherapy the Post graduate
students will be able to :

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Physiotherapy :

Candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course should have passed the qualifying examinations, (Academic Stream) after a period of twelve years of study with the following subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Botany and Zoology with minimum of marks as per University Regulations.

Eligibility Criteria for Master of Physiotherapy :

A bachelor of physiotherapy degree certificate with not less than three and half years duration (including six months of internship) from any University within India or equivalent degree from any other recognized University. Candidates holding qualification regarded as equivalent in standard to the above, may be considered subject to the approval of the academics senate on recommendations of Board of Studies (WBUHS).

  The physiotherapy institution has its independent infrastructure consisting of 4 class rooms with audiovisual equipment, with provision for LCD display, PG room, PG faculty room and UG faculty room apart from other basic necessities.
• »  Laboratories :
  The Institution has separate laboratories for Physiotherapy, Biochemistry, Anatomy, therapeutic exercise and Electrotherapeutics. The anatomy laboratory is fully equipped for students to practice as well as part identification with the use of specimen. The Physiology lab is spacious and well equipped with sufficient number of microscopes and slides. As well as the students are allowed to utilize the laboratories facilities of Burdwan Medical College & Hospital in all major departments.

  The Library of the institute has its unique distinction of having more volumes comprising of various medical and general books of foreign and Indian authors, reference books of foreign and Indian authors, reference books, journals etc. The library is open from 9 am to 5.30 pm daily and is functional till 1 am during the exams. It is maintained in serene atmosphere to disseminate the knowledge to students. Guidance Learning Period (GLP) is compulsory for all students during regular class under teaching staff guidance.
• »  Free Internet Facility :
  The Student library boasts of a Internet broadband connectivity. The library has adopted open access system to facilitate students to have easy access to the vast resources. The library hold the subscription to various national and international journals, periodicals etc.
• »  Parent Teacher Interaction :
  Intimation of student’s performance like attendance, marks scored in each seasonal examination and over all behavior in the institution are periodically sent to the parents by the concerned teachers. We expect the parent to be regularly in touch with the institution authorities either through phone or mail and intimate us regarding any change of address or phone numbers directly.

  The institution has anti ragging and sexual harassment committee to safeguard our student from any unacceptable behavior within or outside the institution.
• »  BIMLS Clinic :
  The institution is having its own physiotherapy clinic inside the campus where the treatment is given in very nominal rates compared to other physiotherapy centers for the sake of the student’s exposure. Our clinic is giving concession to Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders as well as to member of staff and students of Burdwan University.

BIMLS was set up in the year 2001 as a joint venture between the University of Burdwan and Burdwan Institute of Management and Computer Science, professionals in different fields coming together to espouse a noble cause of providing quality education in the field of physiotherapy. It is a pioneer institution to introduce 4 ½ years Bachelor of Physiotherapy program in West Bengal. First Institution in West Bengal to start with Master Degree in the field of Physiotherapy. Today BIMLS has become a name synonymous with quality education. The institution has successfully seen through eleven batches of undergraduates and seven batches of postgraduate students since its inception. It is the first physiotherapy college in West Bengal to start Master Degree Course in Physiotherapy (MPT)

Physiotherapy course was introduced in India in the year of 1952 and 1963 in West Bengal. This health service is one of the most popular and sought after treatment in Western countries. Although it has been more than five decades since its introduction in our country the awareness is only gradually but surely growing. It is quite certain that considering the population of the country and the number of physiotherapists produced every year, the profession has a tremendous potential for development in the years to come.
