Admission Procedure


Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination in the general stream conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in 10+2 pattern after a period of twelve years of study or an examination recognized as equivalent by the University of North Bengal.

  • Applicants from ISC, CBSE, National Open School or other recognized Boards must have passed in at least four subjects (excluding Environmental Studies) with English as compulsory subject.
  • All applicants who have passed the 10+2 Examination and shall be admitted in terms of the pre-amended Regulations.
  • A candidate shall be allowed to prosecute B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. in general course (not Honours course) if he/she has passed the qualifying examinations in vocational stream subject to 1 and 2 above.
  • A candidate prosecuting Honours in a language shall not be allowed to take up the same subject as elective.
  • A candidate prosecuting Honours in a language subject shall not be allowed to take up another language subject as elective.
  • In all matters with regard to admission the Principal is the final authority.

Minimum Marks for Accepting Application Forms

  • For Hons. Courses an applicant must have obtained either
    (i) 55% marks in the aggregate
    or
    (ii) 50% marks in the aggregate with 60% marks in the subject.
  • For SC/ST Candidates the minimum marks for eligibility to apply for admission to Honours courses is
    (i) 50% marks in the aggregate
    or
    (ii) 45% in the aggregate with 60% in the subject concerned.
  • For General Courses an applicant must have passed with at least 40% in the aggregate.
  • A regular course of study shall mean attendance in at least 75% of the classes actually held.
  • Every student shall have to attend at least 75% of the classes actually held in a year/session to sit for any University examination (Part I/II/III)
  • Honours Students will be selected on the basis of merit. Merit List will be uploaded on the website.
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply for more than one Honours subject indicating an order of priority.
