Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) modifies its PhD admission process, now accepting NET scores following a UGC directive in line with NEP 2020. Replacing the National Testing Agency's (NTA) entrance exam, JNU will adopt NET scores for PhD admissions starting from the academic session 2024-25, as per the notice.
However, some students are worried about this decision. JNUSU fears that using NET scores might disadvantage marginalized students, reducing their chances in research. After a protest at UGC Headquarters, they met a UGC Joint Secretary, who promised internal discussion, reaffirming universities' autonomy. In response, JNUSU plans to meet the Director of Admissions on April 29, advocating for JNUEE as the PhD entrance exam.
