Eligibility Criteria For M.Sc. (Day) Courses

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Sc. (Day) courses in various subjects are as follows :

Physics 60% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects. 54% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the pass subjects. 45% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours/ Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the pass subjects.
Chemistry 60% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects. 54% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects. 45% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects.
Mathematics 60% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Mathematics. 54% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Mathematics. 45% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Mathematics.
Applied Geology 55% marks in the 3-year B.Sc.(Honours / Major) in Geology / Geological Sciences with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as pass subjects. 49.5% marks in the 3-year B.Sc.(Honours / Major) in Geology / Geological Sciences with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as pass subjects. 41% marks in the 3-year B.Sc.(Honours / Major) in Geology / Geological Sciences with Mathematics and Physics / Chemistry as pass subjects.
Electronic Science 60% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics/ Electronics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects. 54% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics/ Electronics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects. 45% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics/ Electronics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects.
Instrumentation 50% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics / Instrumentation / Electronics / Chemistry
(with pass subject in Physics and Mathematics).
Candidate should have Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics in the H.S. Level.
45% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics / Instrumentation / Electronics / Chemistry
(with pass subject in Physics and Mathematics).
Candidate should have Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics in the H.S. Level.
41% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics / Instrumentation / Electronics / Chemistry
(with pass subject in Physics and Mathematics).
Candidate should have Physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics in the H.S. Level.
Biotechnology Minimum 55% marks in B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in any branch of Science with at least 50% marks in Mathematics in H.S. level. Minimum 49.5% marks in B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in any branch of Science with at least 50% marks in Mathematics in H.S. level. Minimum 41% marks in B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in any branch of Science with at least 50% marks in Mathematics in H.S. level.


Eligibility Criteria For M.Sc. (Evening) Courses

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Sc. (Evening) courses in various subjects are as follows :

Physics 55% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects. 49.5% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary / pass subjects. 41% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Physics with Mathematics as one of the pass subjects.
Chemistry 55% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects. 49.5% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects. 41% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours/ Major) in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics as subsidiary / pass subjects.
Mathematics 55% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Mathematics. 49.5% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Major) in Mathematics. 41% marks in the 3-year B.Sc. (Honours / Majors) in Mathematics.

Candidate who have appeared the B.Sc.(Honours/Major) Final Examination this year, the result of which are yet to be published are also eligible to apply. They should input the marks of two year (1st & 2nd year) or five(5) semesters for B.Sc. (Hons.) or its equivalent examination and they must have the minimum eligibility on the basis of the marks secured but they should submit the final mark-sheet at the time of interview & admission.


For Sports category

  • Candidates having position 1st/2nd in the Zonal Inter-University competition or having position 1st/2nd/3rd in the All India/Inter-Zonal Inter-University competition in the AIU conducted sports/games with minimum percentage of marks as notified in the eligibility criteria in respective discipline are eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
  • However, the following criteria will be followed in case of Chess and Tennis for admission under sports quota:
    For Chess, applicant having the FIDE rating 1700 and above with the criteria specified above is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
    For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The rating/ranking for chess & tennis on the day/week of publication of advertisement for admission under sports quota is applicable.
  • Certificates of participation in Sports/Games must be obtained from the competent authorities. Applicant must submit attested photocopies of the certificates along with a photocopy of bank challan and print out of online application to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, U.G. Science Building, Ground Floor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700 032, on or before July 31, 2015 (11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.). Final selection in this category would be done by the Admission committee.
